Ok, so I didn't want to threadjack photogirl's post about strange rides, so I thought I'd start my own...
Laid down the bike legitimately for the first time yesterday in a kind of odd/stupid way (Alvin, the one at your house I call a set-down). Leaving Uptown Park after hanging out with some friends, I gassed it into a turn while exiting the parking lot (perhaps a bit aggressively) and the back end completely stepped out from under me on the brick paved area. I let it go and slid/rolled. Thank God for protective gear or I would have more than just a skinned knee. I keep replaying it in my head to figure out what happened and I am not sure if the bricks were slick or what the heck happened. Anyway, I'm fine, just the aforementioned skinned knee, some scratches on my helmet, scraped gloves, and a little rubbing on the ol' jacket.
More importantly, the bike is fine but probably needs a couple replacement parts. If anybody has any of these lying around for an S2R, let me know before I go find them from other sources.
Things that I want to fully replace:
-Speedymoto frame slider puck (saved my bike)
-CRG Hindsight LS and post to mount (ground that puppy down pretty good)
-Kickstand (usable but could probably use a new one considering the end of it is now flat)
Things that are probably fixable/upgradeable/not necessarily needing to be replaced:
-Gear shifter and linkage rod (probably can be just bent a little back into shape)
-Clutch lever (maybe this is the bike gods' way of saying upgrade to the CRG's)
-Slight rub into the paint on the tank... I'll need to consult you Houston folks on the best way to deal with this if I don't just leave it alone
There's something sort of cathartic about posting this here... I'm not sure why. Anyone else have any really embarassing laydowns? I feel like I should have an awesome story from a track day or a tragic one about a stupid driver instead of a bonehead one like I do.
glad to hear you're ok first off
I probably have a shift actuation rod available that should fit your bike, other than that, i don't really have any of the other parts...
Thx David... despite me wanting a better story to tell, I'm glad it wasn't worse, either. I hear the track day went well?

VERY well actually [thumbsup] hopefully cbartlett will get his pics out within a week or so ;D
Dom,
I may have the Speedymoto slider puck. Are you looking for the "mushroom" button type?
Yes, the mushroom type. If you have one, I'll be happy to buy it off you unless you feel like you want to hang on to it in case you need it.
as long as you weren't trying to show off in front of a bunch of hot babes, then that's not too bad... ;)
i remember reading a thread about a year ago just full of stories like this... but REALLY embarassing... like the one where some guy was at school showing off his new duc to some friends... he started it up while standing next to it, not realizing it wasn't in neutral and the bike lurched forwards without him on it and fell over. now THAT would be embarassing... i wish i could find that thread again... i tell you what, i learned a LOT reading what NOT TO DO!!!
glad you're ok, and despite the severe heat, you are still wearing all your gear.
Frank, if you're by Paul's this week, I can either meet you there or you can leave it with Paul and I'll leave payment with him to give to you. PM or call me with details. I'm out of town on Wednesday and flying back Thursday late but otherwise will be around.
Sorry to hear about the mishap Dom.
I'll keep an eye out for the parts you need. I don't have an embarrassing story to share but do share the disappointment that follows a fall. I've been know to take a few spills and can honestly say that none are glorious or less bitter, downing regardless of circumstances just plain SUCKS! All one can do is dust ourselves off, chalk it up as a lesson learned and get back on for another ride. [moto]
Dom,
I’m sorry to hear about your mishap. The most important thing is that you are ok. Swear a few times about the damage and look forward to the opportunity of doing some more mods. I have those mirrors I took off my bike, it’s not as pretty as yours but it’ll do if for a while until can find a deal :) It’s yours if you want them.
Thanks, Joe. I'm already dusted off, just needing my stupid knee to finish healing. I hate walking around all gimpy... [bang]
Alvin, I'll just roll with the mirror I have on there for now. It works fine, it's just not that pretty. I'll have another one soon enough.
Frank, update on the puck. I asked Anthony at Desmoworks if he stocked replacements that I could buy and he has offered to send me one he has lying around for free if I only needed one. I figure if I take him up on his offer, you can keep yours in case you need it in the future (knock on wood that you don't), so no need to get me yours, I guess. I'll just pay for the shipping and get one from Desmoworks. Shot out to Anthony and his awesome customer service! [clap]
Dom, sorry to hear about that. If you need help wrenching on it, you know i'm usually about 2 secs from your casa
Dom, sent ya a PM.
If Desmoworks is willing to send a replacement puck to you for just shipping costs, you can't beat that deal. I had to pay for a replacement set just for one of my scuffed-up pucks.
