As the last was a good success (13 Bikes) I am already thinking of the next ride. Any ideas? Dates? Thinking something different, Maybe an overnight, charity run or early brekky run ??? Lets mix it up a little. INPUT PLEASE.
Well going back sometime and infact it was my very first ride with this group shortly after I got my Monster was a Breaky run to Bathurst.
Mmick had threatened he'd do another Breaky run so this could be a good option.
We went out straight up the Great Western but came back via Bells Line etc....
If you wanted to do an overnight then we could always take ourselves along for the Thunder Rally.
Me I'd like to do the Bathurst Breaky ride again, it was an excellent day I covered a zillion k's in the day and was absolutely knackered when I got home.
Brekky run would be good. Maybe we could get an alternate route via hawkesbury Rd and springwood, there is a nice tight section and a pretty impressive lookout which could be good for a photo...
and if you could make it on a weekday i could go with you, guys rather than reading what a great time you've had [bang]

Melvin, I am able to do the odd weekday ride now and then, I might have some time towards the end of the month. I will keep you in mind
I know that road, I drove an M3 like a mad man up and down, up and down there for a couple of hours one time.
We could meet out at the start of Richmond Road or somewhere around there.
Mmmmmm, a fun road on a Monster it would be Master Yoda. A fun road it would be indeed.
Routes:
A Bathurst run would be awesome! We could take a leisurely spin around Mt Panorama (http://www.v8supercar.com.au/circuits/circuitmap_lge.asp?img=/v8data/crct/crct_128.jpg&nme=Supercheap+Auto+Bathurst+1000%2C+Mount+Panorama%2C+Bathurst%2C+New+South+Wales). What better spot to take photos than Skyline? Or some action shots rolling through the esses and the dipper! [thumbsup]
Is this route (http://tinyurl.com/6lj9on) the sort of thing you had in mind Matty? [Updated to include the Hawkesbury Road Lookout and the Tarana/Lake Lyall bypass]
Unfortunately most of the Great Western Highway up the hill is err, batshit boring imo. Lots of traffic (and [leo]) for most of the way to Katoomba in my experience.. But once you clear the Mt Victoria turnoff and start rolling down the hill into Lithgow things get better.
I'm more than happy to do an exploratory run to scope it over the next couple of weeks to identify spots where we can get fuel and food (and avoid two hours waits :'()
Dates:
October is pretty busy; there's the Labour Day Long weekend (http://www.industrialrelations.nsw.gov.au/holidays/)/ARL Grand Final (//http://)(4th-6th), Bathurst V8 Supercars (http://www.v8supercar.com.au/calendars/clndrevent.asp?eid=256) and Thunder Rally (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=7658.0) (9th-12th) and Turismo 2008 (http://www.saneevent.com.au/ws/ducatiturismo2008/) (20th-23rd).
We could try for the weekend of the 27th/28th of September. It's almost in line with the traditional 2 month (ish) gap between runs we've had between to last two bigs rides. Only thing is that is AFL grand final weekend (but let's face it, it's gonna take and act of god for the Swans to make the GF)
Either that or I guess we would need to push it out to November. I'm not fussed really. Given enough notice I can get the day off to ride during the week.
That's pretty much the way we have been before.
Check out Hawkesbury Road off Castlereagh Road, it pops out onto the GW via Springwood.
I can also do weekdays as Melvin and a few of the others know.
So let's see where the chat takes us.
Gah, knew i forgot something. Too much time spent adding embedded URLs :).
I've updated the Google Maps link to include the lookout on Hawkesbury Rd.
Bathurst Breaky Run. [thumbsup]
It was my first ride with the group as well.
From Bathurst back through Tarana (spelling??) and past Lake Lyall, great piece of road! And then down the Bells Line and stop off at Richmond Pub. :D
I would do that run again in a heartbeat. :D :D :D :D
[bacon]
I can occasionally go for a run during the week if given some notice, so if you whip one up with a few days notice, lemme know too :)
Updated link (http://tinyurl.com/6lj9on) includes the run via Tarana and Lake Lyall. Is that the one you are talking about Super?
p.s. I'm still laughing at the T.I.B. bit.
It's taking shape already, end of September is looking okay right now.
Let's see when a few others pop in.
Jukie, Betty, Mmick, Goldfish, Doc, R_usty, Giannig, Andy, Big, and others.

....run via........Lake Lyall....
been there (in a car though) ........... looks like a tops ride
I think I'd have to leave on the Thursday, wouldn't get back until Monday.
Anyone else planning a MotoGP ride on the first weekend in Oct? I'm currently planning on leaving work early-ish on Friday afternoon, getting a few hours south of Sydney and stopping the night, then spending Saturday riding through the mountains and down to Philip Island, then Home again Monday. (It'll be a _leisurely_ trip this time, I won't have to ride all the way home on Sunday night after the race!)

Right. So we get the best man to arrange to have the Monster parked out the back of the reception venue with your riding gear, all the groomsmen queued up to keep topping the brides champagne glass up all night, then you piss off after the reception on the bike, join us at the races on Sunday, and show up at the honeymoon hotel Monday morning saying "Hey Mrs Super T.I.B, I thought I'd let you sleep off that hangover yesterday, aren't I thoughful?"

Hmmm, nice thought. [thumbsup]
But, getting married in Cairns. Palm Cove to be exact.
Which reminds me, I have to PM CairnsDuc about something.
Interesting side note.
I head into Emu Plains from Windsor every Friday arvo to get some fresh coffee off Morgan's then head up "old Balthurst Rd" join the GW highway, turn off at Springwood and head back down to Yarramundi. I seem to always need to do a couple of laps of the twisties though - six times last Friday [thumbsup]
For some reason though I seem to be wearing my tyres more than I used to?
The Bathurst run is a good one - the map looks good [thumbsup]
Last time, we worked it for a late breakfast in Bathurst, and then a coupla quick laps around the mountain and then promptly left town. The residents up the mountain like to inform the [leo] when there are people having a little fun in their backyard, so its best to be relatively quick in and out.
As for dates, Sat 13th Sept works for me, and pretty much nothing else :( . Got a lot going on over Sept / Oct, so if that date doesn't work out, then I'll catch you people on the next one [thumbsup]

damn it, would love to, but alas......
For anyone who has not done the trip down to PI on two wheels I highly recommend it. Done it once, hanging to do it again [thumbsup]
Since Matty just mentioned a ride on 27th Sept. I went digging .... found this one.
Are you guys still planning on doing a big ride?
Yeah, that's where I thought we were heading.
Bathurst for Breakfast/Lunch depending on what time we're meeting/leaving etc...
