No rain in Wylie. Sunny as can be.
i like this morphed site we have here.... weather.ducatimonsterforum.org
very useful. if only they would invent a website dedicated solely to tracking current weather conditions...if only.
i thought you could track weather at..... no! what about .....not there either. screw it i am out of answers.

??? Just to add an awkward motorcycling comment to an otherwise inane thread - IF it does rain we all need to be cautious because I think America's Strategic Oil Reserves are coating the pavement of the metroplex ! I've seen too many diesel trails to count & I feel sorry for the living beings that will die when that crap all washes into the storm drains. Maybe if the price of oil went really high people would fix their crappy leakin rides !!
Sorry - I haven't found the RANT thread & this one wasn't going anywhere anyway !! [bang]

I was caught riding in a sudden downpour last Friday afternoon going south on Loop 12 near 183. Needless to say, it was like riding on ice...not that I've ever actually ridden on ice--just guessin'. :P

Sorry to threadjack this b*tch and ya'll can call me out, but, DLS, Tommy is killing me! I'm getting "that's what she said" for nearly every comment I make and he's saying lots of other things under his breath that I don't even understand, but I think it's directed at me and it's not very nice. He actually holds back on you guys, and now me and my momma are gettin it all!
On topic...I really wish it would rain for a good long while. I really love the rain.

Lots of rain in Frisco... can't ride but I am glad to get the moisture!! ;)
The rain at least makes me use the truck a little bit. Can't let that fuel in its tank go bad [thumbsup]
I'm not running the fuel out of anything. The truck has been in the shop for a week and I still can't fit all the kids on one of those bikes, even if it isn't raining. Oh well, enjoying some r&r this week.
Now I just have to wash the G-Coupe [bang]

How do you keep your visor clean enough to see out of ? I don't mind the windscreen being sorta opaque but too many raindrops on the visor makes me uncomfortable because I can't see - Duh !
So is there a water repeller spray, chamois, sponge or something that works for you ? Squeegee-ing with a gloved finger kinda helps - but post up oh all wise Ducatisti! Or is this a question for the boring beemer ironbutt channel ?

when you getting yours?
Have you all seen the way people around here drive in the rain....they go off the road for no reason....I'd sure hate to see them in the north. I'm not riding in the rain unless I have to....I want to live.
I have heard NO to Rain-X for a long time on helmet visors so I have heeded the unproven rumor and never tried it. Arai shields are like $45+ and I don't want to use one as a guinea pig only to maybe ruin it. I haven't had much trouble with rain and visors. At decent speed I just turn my head a little and the wind blows it off to the side or I use a finger on my left glove as a "wiper". My insulated winter gloves have a mini squeegy on the thumbs for just that reason. I believe there is an add on, aftermarket squeegy thing you slip over your glove thumb/finger to do the same thing. I can't remember where I've seen them but I know I have.
[moto] For sure I will be commuting downtown in the car today so dodging the rain is probably always best if possible. When cycling I've pulled over a waited out the heavy stuff before - high water sorta freaks me because you never know what's under it - probably the pothole to China !
I want to do some touring in the Fall and next Spring. It seems inevitable that I will have to ride some in rain, hence my desire to build some skill through experience so that I don't have to worry. Just wanting to know if there are tools that help because I've done some rain riding - I just find the visor thing really annoying! :-\

+1
[thumbsup] Thanks for the RainX warning Brian - seemed like a good idea - I worry about using the finger of the glove because of scratching the visor. Part of my problem may be the aeroflow screen - at speed it flips the water over me but at the town speeds <40mph it seems to add to the spray hitting the helmet & makes it more mist like ! I tried tucking down behind it some & that helped with the visor but then I'm looking through a double layer of crud [bang]!
I'll look for the finger squeegee thing - seems like a great idea for the tankbag tool collection !
Thanks for the suggestions!

Thanks for the invite, I'll be over as soon as I figure out why Morgan and Shiloh are jamming out to the song "i'm Too Sexy" in their room. I didn't know that song was on the Shrek CD. The last thing I need is Morgan running around the house singing about shaking her toosh on the catwalk..... :P

I kinda have gotten in trouble before for threadjacking, you know, and I don't think everyone likes to hear about how much I like to work out and call people names... ;D, but if you really need to know, since it's raining and everything, I am doing lower body today and I've offered for you all to come and watch at golds in crowley. I will put you to work though, I won't tolerate laziness.
Also, we say ya'll in KY too, but then I spent some time in many other states where they don't say it so much and I guess I lost a little of that hometown talk....every now and then it resurfaces, I'll work on it ya'll.
We're gonna cut you some slck [thumbsup]
But just this once ;D
