Title: Picked up a new bike tonight...
Post by: Rameses on August 07, 2008, 09:56:37 PM
Every so often a great deal floats your way.... a deal too good to be true.

I bought a HyperMotard today.

I stopped at the light today to see 74.9 miles and then later 69.6.

It's a sign!

I need a new bike too!

I'm going to Ducati tomorrow!

black 1098s

2,000 miles
full Termi system, DP ecu, open airbox, Corbin seat, no reflectors, no emissions
better pics coming soon

An absolute blast to ride.  The riding position is VASTLY different than that of a Monster with clip-ons, but I think I'll get used to it pretty quickly.

The power and torque from the 1100DS are absolutely amazing.  And the sound with the Termi can is make the beast with two backsing ridiculous.

I love it.   :)

Pick up....chicks....with a motorcycle.....what are you smoking?

Step 1: Buy a Ducati
Step 2: Pick up chicks
Step 3: Ride chicks

Just wish there was more time to be on the bike.

Yeah, the cams are definitely on the list.

The first thing I'll be adding though is a lot of miles.   ;D

I'm also eyeballing some sweet carbon fiber bits.  A cf bar, top tank panel, and front fender will probably be first.

I also saw a carbon fiber taillight/turnsignal replacement that looks really sweet.  Let me see if I can find a pic.

Here it is.  I'm not sure how it would look with my exhaust though.  I'll have to look for some more pics and spend some time staring at my bike and trying to picture it.

This is tempting me even more to get one.  [evil] I've really been thinking a lot about this for my next bike and now there is the .99% financing option. Man!...tempting.

Here're a couple of quick pics from last night.  This was when I was putting it in my truck at a loading dock that I found at an old bike dealership after looking for a suitable location for half an hour and deciding to use a stone wall in the back yard of a church.   [laugh]

Hey wait a minute!!!  Is that a single-sided swingarm??!!  And a 2-into-1 exhaust!!??  What happened to your obsession with mirror-plane symmetry???   ;D

Beautiful bike!!!   [thumbsup]   [evil]

You'll probably never need another front tire.  ;D   [evil]

I know man.  Jobu already asked me how long it was gonna take for me to figure out a way to convert it to a double-sided swingarm.  [laugh] [laugh]

I picked it up in Knoxville.

I bought it from a guy named Dan who had it listed on Ducati.ms.  He also has a BMW R1200RT that he puts a lot more miles on than he did the Hyper.  His Beemer's a couple of years old and he's looking at trading it in on a new RT, so he wanted to unload the Duc.

Okay, I made it 4 days before I did anything to it.

Yesterday afternoon I peeled all of the frame stickers off and painted the front fender supports.

You can see them unpainted in this pic.  They're the raw aluminum rods running parallel to the fork sliders.

Here they are blacked out.  I think they look better.

And I just bought some carbon fiber belt covers.   ;D

hi john,
just sent you a pic of the retard and yes the tric is also mine
i found the tailtidy on www.magicalracing.co.jp but i do'nt think it will right with your exhaust.
i changed the handlebars, grips mirrors etc which made the bike alot narrower for my style of riding [no more car mirror banging when filtering]
take it easy geoff [thumbsup]

Wow, Geoff, your Hyper looks great.

What handlebar are you running?  I know I saw a carbon fiber handlebar on a website sometime in the last couple of weeks but can't find it now to save my life.

And how do you like that windscreen?  How much does it help?

the handlebars, grips, barends, fluidpots and fluidpot brackets are all rizoma products, wow what quality.i made my own tailtidy by useing the original bracket that bolts to the underside of the exhaust and removeing the back plate metal bracket and replaced it with a piece of flat carbonfibre to hold the No Plate and reflector and replaced the winkers with red rizoma LED winkers, much better on the eye.the mirrors are DP with built in LEDs.
all the best geoff
