Gel seat would probably make the biggest difference
DP gel seat or the GP lever. Both are functional mods, the other 2 are completely useless, and a waste of money until you get all the functional stuff out of the way.

I've heard a vicious rumor that the stock shift linkage can be flipped upside down. Its a bit tight, but you get the GP shift pattern for the price of an hour or so of tinkering.
A seat is a great idea, but I'd discourage from the GEL type. A buddy has one (DP, for a Monster) here in Salt Lake and it can get hot. When it's toasty outside, he says the gel acutally retains a ton of the heat, frying his arse for some time. I have a stock seat :'( and a Sargent seat. Cannot praise the Sargent seat enough. First ride on it was from LA to SLC in one day. No problems! Another plus is that you have a killer sized tool box underneath. About the size of a Fosters "oil can" of beer.

I'm leaning toward the seat for obviouse reasons. The sargent is a bit pricey and in VA it doesn't get really hot, more of a humidity thing. I've been running GP shift for about three months now and still find that my feet are so huge (11EE) that I still can't slip my toe under the shift lever without twisting my foot out. I'm hoping a new shift lever (looking at the Moto wheels for a 1098) will help with that. The guy at the shop said it "may" help due to being able to lose the linkage.
Think I'll research sargent a bit more cause they do look niice, but big $$$ for us now

The gel seat is great!! Just put my jacket over the seat when not on it, and it keeps it from gettng boiling hot. At the track a white towel works wonders!
Caution : once hot - it really does fry everything, and burns forever. Riding while standing helps a little, but it retains the heat.

A seat is a nice mod, but if you wear some padded bicycling shorts on the long rides you can live with the stock seat pretty easy. I'd go to Aerostitch order a pair of riding shorts and buy the GP shifter with the $ left over. I did over 10,000 miles on the stock seat of my 695 last year, seat wasn't great but it wasn't as bad as people said it was. Raising the bars may help with comfort as well.

depending on your clutch slave, you should be able to flip it around no problem at all. i flipped mine last night in about 5 minutes easily...give it a try; you only need to undo two bolts after all.
