Hey all, I'm wondering if I can get some help with my 05 S2R?
This morning the bike wouldn't start, turned the key... no fuel pump motor...
cabbed it to work, came home and began the diagnostics...
fuses.. good
unplugged and replugged the pump... no change.
took off gas tank, and removed pump assembly to check on interior connections... all good.
just for shits, plugged fuel pump assembly back into harness and turned on the key... IT Worked?!!!
put pump assembly back into tank, and the bike started right up!!
I'm happy it works now, but am still concerned I didn't find out why it crapped out in the 1st place.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?
This has me worried it may happen again, and next time not conveniently in my garage!
Any help or ideas would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Jerry
Just a hunch but maybe ignition sensor came loose. If that sensor is basically not horizontal or at the level of your key when you turn it then things wont work. I don't really see that sensor going loose unless you replaced the key cover or pulled on the wire really hard by accident or something.
oh... one other thing I forgot to mention, the ignition relay's (screw into the side of the battery box) was hanging off the side.
apparently the mounting screw came out. I put in another screw and remounted the relay harness to the battery box.
Don't know if that would make a difference anyway.
