The other day i was riding around and noticed that my high beam indicator light was on, even though the switch wasnt. I pulled up to my dads place and he told me that my head light was barely on. I figured maybe the bulb just blew. I opened up the headlight to find a melted mess of wires inside. It wasn't really the wires, more so the connection the 3 wires go into ( it looks like a little black connecting box ) I've looked at the ducati parts manual and they dont list this part?
I managed to clean it up a bit and make the connection tighter again, and the headlight is working again and the highbeam indicator is off. Obviously this problem needs to be addressed. Is there really a part number for that black connecting box, or should i just strip the wires to where they are good, and reconnect ? What could of caused this issue, i really rather my bike not burn down.

Unfortunately that connector is not available on its own. You have to buy the whole headlight wiring harness (~$55) unless you can find someone with a spare sitting around.

I was looking for one to connect to my dual headlight system so I posted up in the "Parts Wanted" section.
That's a fairly common Ducati problem. That part is an auto parts generic piece, all you need to do is splice it into the wiring.
Oops. My bad.
I thought you were talking about the other end of the wiring, where the entire headlight harness hooks into the main wiring harness.
The little black box looking thing with the 3 spade connectors on it is, as Norm stated, a standard auto headlight plug. Any auto parts store should be able to hook you up.
