.....and I have to take back anything bad I may have said about when it was first introduced. I absolutely love it. Funny because I hated it when it first popped up online.
I'm perplexed because I hated is so much when I saw it online. After seeing it, and sitting on it, there isn't anything I'd change on it. Go figure.........call me a 696 fan. [thumbsup]
I saw it at the new dealership here in New Orleans. We've been without a Duc dealer since 2005 and it's nice to have a new shop in NOLA. Too bad I don't own a Duc anymore...... :-\
poser. [roll] ;D
what happen to your duc?
Long story involving a hurricane, a baby, and a track day addiction. ;D
hmm, didnt know there was a dealership in nola, gives me a reason to drive over one weekend though(from gulfport)
i think the 696 has amazing potential, with a few well thought out mods they could look great.
Just started carry Ducati this week. They've been in business a while selling Vespa scooters. A year or so ago they picked up Triumph. Then Ducati this week. I'm glad to have a Euro dealer in town again.

I'd change the seat angle. As soon as I sat on a 696 I noticed how the seat is at too steep an angle and it shoves your nuts into the tank.
Go to the shop and place any old school monster next to it and you will ask yourself :
What the make the beast with two backs happened ? Why should I get a Japanese looking Aprilla ? I wanted a MONSTER !
Function over form....hooray...so many automated parts that lack finesse and soul...pfui pfui pfui [bang]

It was parked next to an S2R 1000 and an S4R.....both of which I've owned in the past....and I found myself drawn more to the 696. Probably because after owning 3 Monsters it's nice to see something different.
Like I said. I was caught off guard by my appreciation of it. Because I hated it at first. I'd actually like to own one now.

I was the same way about the 1098 until I took the DRE in Hungary last year, after the first lap I was in love.

God forbid more effort goes into having a working, well performing bike than one that just looks good. How are we supposed to pose at starbucks?

Exactly. I'd rather have a bike that works than a bike that looks good.
And the looks have actually grown on me.......so I'm now a fan.

I really really really don't like the 696. Looks better with a tail chop but I think the exahusts even w/ Termis look to short and ridiculous. Seems much more japy than the old monster.
