Well second time i did the whole full gear ride in the rain to work. no problems this morning.
but, noticed some stuttering idle and almost stalled at the stoplights. had two bars on the temp gauge. it was only the first 2 or 3 lights and cleared up after i rev'd it up keeping it at 3000 rpm at the lights for 1 or 2 lights.
anyone noticed that issue in the rain (the bike was all day in the rain)
I was thinking that there was water buildup in the intake system? once the engine built up more temp it evaporated. or rev'ing it made it choke on the water :-[
I had a short 20 minute ride in the rain and did not notice any problems. However, I was at speed, not stop and go, for the majority of the ride.
A couple weeks ago I rode about 60 miles in pouring down rain...at speed given the conditions...with no issues noticed.

do you think sitting in the heavy rain all day led to the problem? not so much the ride?
I don't think the bike parked in the rain would cause water to build in the intake. Isn't it mostly covered up by the tank anyway???
don't the two upper intakes feed into the air box. leaned on the kick stand i would think the right one would have water dripping into it all day?
another rainy day. no problem today. warmed the bike up a bit more before leaving work, no stuttering.
I really doubt water in the airbox was the problem. Suck a lot of water in a cylinder and you will have a bigger problem, hydrostatic lock. More likely, secondary ignition leakage or a temperature related problem, like a temperatre sensor malfunctioning.
