Title: Dry clutch luv.... what model?
Post by: tangueroHondo on August 19, 2008, 04:49:15 PM
I've got a 05 S2R.  It's wonderful and all, but.... I have this thing about the dry clutch.  That fukin rattlin'/scraping sound....

What model of Ducat - Monster or not, that represents a reliable, low $ unit, sports a dry clutch?  I don't need testastretta.  I've noticed a significant number of 848 owners pining for a dry clutch, as well.  Opinions?

if you got an S2R800 and you want more power, the S2R1000 is a nice step, but it probably isnt  ;D. S4R would be the way to go.  [evil]

I have to say, for me, I like the 1000 better simply for its looks. I like the slimmer profile and it seems to be less heavy (I've ridden an s4r briefly). I do looooove the power on that s4r (and the titanium tank/red frame) but it was hard for me to handle at a stop. A dude would prolly be better at it.

Either one is awesome!

Or if you want to go back in time, any of the 900's have dry clutches too.  ;D

dude or not, i think its just the way the bike is set up. The bike feels more stiff. Good thing or bad thing? im not sure. Never ridden an S4R around a turn, just around the block. I wish i had bought an S4R instead of an S2R1000 sometimes.

If budget is an issue, 900 is the way to go. No questions asked. the M900 is probably the more sought after bike of the old era ( that and the 620). Its perfect. the M1000 isnt that bad as well, but if your gonna go DS1000 why not go with a SSS?

Or if money is no object, then its HYPERMOTARD!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ducati is stil having its summer special .99% financing for 72 months, $159 a month if you qualify!

Just for the record, the S4R/RS isn't much heavier than the 2V. The S4RS is 390 lbs. dry and the S2R1000 is 392 lbs dry. Of course there's 2.7 liters of water to add to the RS, which is 6 lbs. at 1 gr/cc. So 4 lbs. heavier for the RS.

Yup, the m900 is a sturdy bugger. Take good care of it and it'll last ya forever. If you get the '96 and earlier ones (when Cagiva still owned Ducati) you might find little elephants all over the place. Girls dig the elephant.  ;) [thumbsup]

S2R1000 brother. This is a sweet bike with tons of Balls. If your looking for a canyon bike or street bike this is the way to go. I also have an S4RS and in regards to engine, the S2R hits the revlimiter at 9,500 and the S4RS at 10,500.

If your looking for a track bike, go for the S4R. You still can't go wrong with the S2R. Ride safe and good luck.

I hate the latest motard craze. It's like they can't make up their mind between street and dirt but they come with street tires.

It's like SUV's to me. All these people buy a big goofy SUV with all the offroad capabilities and drive the kids to soccer practice.  [roll]

Whats the point?

Well if you asked me why i would buy a hypermotard its got an 1100cc engine and sits taller than a monster. Its a wheelie machine and its thin enough to get around trucks and cars so its the perfect urban machine. (why im so desperate to buy a DRZ-400)
