Well thanks to this texas heat my A/C compressor on my house is about to go out, the service guy quoted me $1000.00!!!! [bang] just for labor (the unit is only 3 years old so is under parts warranty) $1000.00 for what... 1 or 2 hours of work? I mean how long does it take to put on a new compressor? How in the world can these guys justify that kind of labor rate? It makes Ducati service look affordable [evil] I wish I made 6 or 7 hundred bucks an hour! I think I need to give up my engineering job and become an HVAC repair guy! No sh*t.
Do they provide the lube?
[laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]
Actually, that's not funny :P
It was $400. in labor to change out the compressor in my 'fridge, & that was with a free compressor under warranty.
It did take the guy 2 trips, & the second trip was about 4 hours...
What kind of warranty doesn't cover labor?!? [bang]
This summer was really hard on A/Cs. I had the A/C compressor on my car go out at 46,000 miles but ended up having it replaced under warranty, parts and labor. Of course if I hadn't decided to buy an extended warranty at the last minute (an additional 800 bucks I think), the whole mess would have been 10,000 miles out of coverage. Planned obsolesence at its best [roll]

In this business climate, a "Ford Corvette" is infinitely possible. Followed almost immediately by a "Toyota Mustang."
