Title: Greetings From the Dirty South!
Post by: DesmonsterS4RS on August 21, 2008, 08:42:36 PM
Well I made it to NOLA without any problems  [bacon]. I actually got 25 mpg out of the Bluesmobile on the one tank  :o
I am goin tommorow to check out the house, and I am planning to check out the Duc/Triumph/Vespa dealer this weekend (pictures to come).

Here are some more boring pics from the road. No sweet insect kills this time  :'(

Wow Cory, looks like a road, some sky, a bridge and a town. Good work! [clap] [laugh] OK, enough making fun. Even though I enjoyed the alone/down time last week when Jen and Colin were in NOLA seeing friends and family I still wished I could have been there. Such a cool town, with so much history and culture. Don't know about living there, either pre or post Katrina, but what an awesome place to visit!! I hope you find it a good place and enjoy your stay. Gotta love the cajun food, to me it's just awesome! Gonna suck not seeing you off Labor Day weekend but I'll catch you either in NOLA or if you come back to this dull, boring place called DFW. Really hope you enjoy the whole cajun thing. It will grow on you... big time. [thumbsup] Have fun bro'!

Hey Cory, glad you made it O.K.  I've enjoyed your pix; nothing like a mondo road to trip to numb the brain, eh?  No pulvarized insects this time around is alright but whassup with the four star pelican warning sign as you enter the metal bridge?  I can only imagine...

Duck and cover?   [evil]

Hope to see you at Ron's on Labor Day.

 8) There is a MC Club called Dirty South Ryderz that I became acquainted with a couple of years ago, and they are kinda at the opposite end of the spectrum from DFWM.  The title of your thread made me think of them and they helped produce this video which is pretty cool really.  If you hook up with a crowd like this in N.0. you would really stand out - BECAUSE YOU RIDE A DUCATI !!  [laugh]  What did you think I meant ?  ???

Mini-bikes, motorscooters, trail bikes, heavy cruisers, superbikes, three wheelers, whatever you got:
WE LOVE THEM BIKES!

Cory - glad you are doing well!  I've been through that area a few times, and hung out there for a little while, once.......can't imagine living there - keep us updated! I really like the pix from the road.......I've spent soooooooooo many hours just driving - everywhere - and I think it is very calming.  Your pix remind me of my many road trips!!!! Can't get enough of those bridges!  I drove to FL for Thanksgiving last year and went over many long bridges.  I honestly could just stop on one and sit there for a while and be perfectly happy!  ;D

Here is a snapshot of my gps after all my travels. I love this thing btw it made the whole trip so easy a Marine could do it  ;)

I went to look at the house earlier. I really like it, the inside is VERY nice, and extremelly well taken care of. It's very roomy, and the best part is the 2 car garage. The owner has an old 65 Mustang in there right now under a cover from what I saw it is SWEEET. I hope he get's it out of there otherwise all the drool is gonna start eating through the paint  :P

Boobs aside (yeah, I said it, and BTW I think there are enough boobs in NOLA that maybe I could just sit this one out) - NOLA is only 8 hrs away and that is very do-able for a weekend.  Of all the places I have visited, and lived, I can't recall one that has a stronger personality than New Orleans.  It would be very cool to come visit, once you are settled in, and check out your new town!  [thumbsup]

Ok so I just got back from NOLA Ducati A.K.A Transportation Revolution. WOW!!!!! What a super nice group of people, as soon as I walked in they introduced themselves, and seemed excited to see someone with a Ducati shirt on lol. I told them about my bike, and that I would be there for the next couple years. They have cool get togethers, and events all the time, and the one guy said they got a pretty big group of euro bikes that cruise around too. They have a full service department, a great selection of gear, and apparel, and they are even expanding the showroom to accommodate the new Duc stuff!  [bacon] Very cool place, and it's only about 7 miles from where the house is. Only thing that sucks is I will have to pay a $1.00 toll every time I cross the Mississippi  [roll] Well here is what you all have been waiting for the pics. (I bet half of you trolls won't even read this.... you all disgust me! J.K.  :P)

Well I just found out the tires on my car are all recalled  [roll] I noticed a little bit of a wobble in the front end at slow speeds, and it's been pulling slightly to the right for a while. I did a search on these symptoms, and found that tread separation will cause vehicles to act like this. So I went out to my car, and looked at the tires sure enough there were some pretty tell tale signs of tread separation so I put my spare on the side that seemed to be the worst, and went for a little ride the wobble, and pull was gone so I knew it was a tire problem. I looked at the other tires , and 2of them were messed up also. I was curious so I did a search on Cooper Cobra tire recalls ,and discovered this "CERTAIN COOPER TIRES OF VARIOUS MODELS LISTED ABOVE MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 6 AND AUGUST 19, 2006 (DOT SERIAL WEEKS 3206 AND 3306.) SOME OF THE SUBJECT TIRES MAY HAVE BEEN PRODUCED WITH NON-CONFORMING BELT WIRE COAT STOCK. IF PLACED IN SERVICE, THE SUBJECT TIRES MAY DEVELOP A BELT SEPARATION DUE TO A REDUCED ABILITY TO PREVENT CORROSION OF THE STEEL WIRES IN AN INSTANCE WHERE MOISTURE REACHES THE STEEL BELT."  My tires s/n C283306  [bang]

I will be taking a trip to the Cooper dealer here on Monday.

Yeah good thing I didn't just drive 2400 miles  [roll]

I never "registrered" my tires so I am hoping there isn't some B/S loophole that says they don't have to replace them because I never registred.

Puggleage keeps cameras happy.

[bang]

Well so much for this house
(http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x2/notacop01/PICT0087-1.jpg)

To make a long story short the whole deal started going sour (greedy assholes >:() so Brett and I backed out of this one  :-\

The good news is we allready found another house that IMO is WAY better anyhow. 3 br 1.5 bath, 1 car garage(big enough for 1 car, and 1 S4RS  [thumbsup]) it has a carport attached in front of the house that doubles as a cool little patio, FULLY FURNISHED  :o were talking 1 king size bed, 2 queens with sheets blankets, couches, tables, TV, fridge  EVERYTHING I could move in right now!

It's a little older than the other house, and it's not quite as fancy but it is very well taken care of, and the owner seemed extremely nice (the fact that she was actually there to show me the house meant alot to me) It's also a little further away from work than the other house but only by about 3 miles so no big deal. Oh and it's $300.00 less a month  [bacon] [bacon] [bacon]

Then theres this cute little guy named Gustav that might be coming to visit  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
The whole base could possibly be evacuated by the end of the week if this storm keeps heading this way  [bang] we will get evacuated to Fort Worth so either way I will see you guys this weekend.
