Were going into the fall / winter season and I've noticed several posts / issues relating to moisture in gas.  How do you tell if the gas has water in it?

a by product would be the milky white in the oil window ... I believe this is in part from water in the gas and winter condensation as mentioned above or a combination of the two.

I think if the gas is slightly milky / cloudy it has some water contamination in it, I've seen this straight  form the pump in rainy Vancouver and had that milky white stuff in the oil window .... anyone know for sure?

The milky oil window is from condensation which is a normal by product of combustion...had nothing to do with water in the fuel.

If you take some gas and put it in a small clear container any water will settle to the bottom.

I think the appearance of the fuel is more due to alcohol content than water.
