Is this the Master Link?

Is this the master link? This is what I have to remove when taking off the chain. Any recommendations on a new chain? Street bike for now, no track use yet if that makes a difference.

That is the master, but you can just cut any link to remove the chain.

I prefer DID, but any good X ring chain is fine.  Do you have a chain tool?

The master link is the only one that I DON'T consider removing to get the chain off.  With any other link, I hook up my RK chain tool that I purchased from California Cycleworks and press the pin through to the other side, then the chain comes apart and can be removed.

Now that I've done that a few times, I would NEVER cut metal to get a chain off.  A center punch and a hammer would work almost as well as a chain tool to press one of those pins out.
