Track days and motion sickness

I've done two track days, and didn't feel naseous at either, despite being nervous and on a hot day.  However, I used to get motion sick all the time when night skiing.  I think it was the lights or something, but the chairlift ride back up the mountain was torture a couple times.  I started popping some over-the-counter motion sickness pills on the first ride up and was good for the night.  Can't remember what they were, but they were pretty mild.

Maybe you just need some of these:

something else to remember: in addition to day-of, drink a ton of water, like constantly, the day BEFORE the track day.
Like this is the racing, no?

Ya know, it just might be that whole horizon tilting thing. Some folks (like my wife) get dizzy/nauseous just looking at things tilting over on TV or when the horizon tilts when you're in a corner. Obviously head positioning is key to alleviating it but even then, if you have a propensity for it, it's gonna bug ya. a lot of guys turn their heads to look thru a corner but a lot don't tilt their heads to help maintain the horizon angle. For some not an issue but something I've noticed and may/may not help you...

I'm not totally useless, I can be used as a bad example!

Hey Julian.
First, you might consider not going so damn fast with your head sidways! Just kidding.

I get sea sick BIG TIME if I can't see the shore. So, I take Dramamine and nothing else works for me. However, Dramamine completely knocks me out, so I usually take it with a large coffee chaser. Yes, that is completely pathetic, but it works for me.

Interestingly, I don't get sea sick while scuba diving (although I do while snorkeling), nor do I get sick from flying.

I also occasionally have an inner ear problem that has motion sickness as the result. it's possible you are suffering from that? It's called BPPV.

When I used to race mountain bikes, I got close to hurling a time or two. But I chocked it up to race day nerves. Same with Enduro's on the WR.

I've heard ginger is a great natural solution to motion sickness. But I haven't tried it on a boat. By the time I get sick on a boat, I am WAY past the point of no return and it's too late for any help at that point.

FYI: I am going to start calling you Ralph.  [laugh] HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Bargy tought us that we needed to keep the head level like you say... but from the gazillion things that I was trying to incorporate and learn at the same time, I am sure that my head was all tilted sideways...

Did you or an instructor scare me with this that day.. because I started this thread to rule this issue out.!!

Who the hell is Ralph? LOL

I think if you had BPPV, it wouldn't go away when off the track. It stays with you for a long time.

If you don't like Ralph, how about Chuck? (Up Chuck)?

Mtbryan might actually have a point there. Try looking more through the turns :)

No, that was yesterday. HAHAHAHAAHHA!

I was only joking. Your head position was fine.

I'm not sure about tomorrow or Friday. I will let you know via email.

Cheers,
Bryan...
