Leather care...

So I have a ducati 80's style leather jacket that has some very light scuffs on the arm from me  we wont get too far into that since im not happy about it at all...  But is there anything I could use to get them out or conditioner so it dosnt get worse...

ok Ill shed alittle light on the sittuation.
(long story short going around a slow curve there was somthing in the road and dodging it I brushed the curb laid the bike over into the grass, my jacket sholder and arm brushed the sidewalk)  no damage to anything except a small scratch on my wheel from the curb. as i was going very slow... but I am pissed it happend (thankfull im ok) but still not happy about the situation.

I've got a 30 year old H-D heavy duty leather jacket that I still wear today. First thing I did with it when I brought it home was to soak it with Mink Oil conditioner. I did that two times and it has repelled water, dirt, and bird dookie not to mention oil and whatever comes off the road for years. The jacket looks as good today as it did or better than the day I bought it. It will however change the color slightly to a darker color but over time will mellow nicely into a real classic look. The best thing is that it preserves the leather so well the jacket still has that fine leather smell to it.

I second Dainese leather cleaner but I found something that works great to clean also.  It's the Mr Clean sponge that removes scuff marks (around white, beige and so on), then use Meguiars leather conditioner.

Will that help keep the jacket soft and pliable?

It can't help the zipper to stretch with the leather though, right?

yeah im not too worried about the jacket having a few small scuffs on it... but i remember with my other one once the pertecive finish was gone it started to dry out, so i didnt know if that would happen with this one or if there was any one thing that was better to use than another...

Any of the leather care systems (Dainese, A*, etc) will do a great job.  It's usually a 2 part system, 1 bottle to clean and 1 to condition the leather.

I usually clean up my leathers once a year (unless I get caught in the rain)

Oh, got it.

Well I would say use some mink oil, or neetsfoot oil, or any overthecounter leather treatment.  I've long ago quit listening to those who scream about "X" is BAD only to hear someone else say "X" is the only thing to use.

I've heard arguments over helmet laws that were more civil.  ;-)
