I have always disliked the goldy/brassy finish of the fuel injection control bits visible on the Right under the tank.

I was trying some alloy paint to see if it matched the sump fins which have lost parts of their painted finish. It was far too bright for that but I took off the half moon shaped thing that the twistgrip cable pulls around and painted it, looked great !

Then I decided to take off the oil cooler which was looking shabby, gave it a cleanup and a coat of silver. Once mounted it was obviously far too bright.

So , now my plan is to do the cooler and the FI brassy bits in matte black BUT when it came to taking off the bracket from the body of the intake the screws ain't Allen heads

What type and size of key do I need to get these off ?

The screws are Torx head spline.

I didn't like mine either so I made one from aluminium.

Nice work with the alloy.

Torx - thanks, couldn't work out why none of my Allens fitted

Not Torx,  Torx has 5 flutes

These screws have 6 points

Apologies, it is a Torx

Here's what the local auto parts place sold me, It is marked T -20 and my receipt says Torx bit T - 20

Grrrrr, I hate this sorta crap.

Wonda what this type is made for, maybe I can get a job fixing Stealth bombers, or dishwashers

They are actually very common in industry now-a-days.  We use they almost exclusively for non-customer accessible fasteners.  Very high strip out resistance, and can be "held" on the end of a magnetic driver much easier then allen or phillips.

Here's the results of my recent painting episode

I reaalllllly like the looks with the FI stuff and oil cooler matte black

Maybe it might run cooler - I'm in Melbourne Oz, tennis fans may have heard of our heat wave ! !

At the moment it 's just a tad over 45 degrees

For the technical the FI bits were wiped with a rag full of thinners, the cooler scratched up and scraped, then a wipe over with thinners

Paint from BBQ shop - Pot Belly Black, brushed on, and for the fins poured thru, both ways, then vacuumed to get out the drips, then brushed for any little bits missed. This stuff dries in 5 seconds and can be recoated immediately

Now how 'bout those belt covers?!  ???

P.S. I just got home from a 25 mile, sub-freezing ride with the wrong gloves.  I really thought I had frostbite!!  So, send some of that hot weather up here!
