Front wheel compatibility

I'm sure someone here can answer this for me:

I have a 2005 1000s Monster - dual swingarm one.  I have a 5 spoke Marchensini rear wheel (broke the OEM brembo).

I want to put on a matching 5 spoke front wheel.  Wheel size of the OEM 3 spoke brembo is 3.5" x 17. No idea of axle size.

Question:  Will the front wheel from a 2006 S2R fit my bike (with or without bearing spacers)??  or any other year S2R monsters.

I'm in Oz so sorry can't just pop round to compare with your S2R.

Thanks
Heather

That wheel will bolt right on.
Use your same (loose) spacer.

BTW, it's a 25mm axle.

Dunno if you're planning to swap your existing rotors onto the new wheel.
If you are, beware that the sprocket bolts *can* be hard to remove.
Make sure you've got a good allen socket to start with.

AFAIK, all S4, S4R, S2R front wheels would be a direct swap.
If you're looking for a particular color, that will narrow the field.

S2R 800 wheels will originally have 300mm rotors, which will not work with your calipers.

Thanks Speeddog.  [beer]    That makes my life a little easier.

Yes I am planning on using my existing rotors.  So thanks for the advice abut that too.

The colour thing isn't an issue - wheels can be painted.  I got the rear one painted - didn't cost much.

I'm assuming the S2R 800 wheel would fit minus rotors (I'm assuming they are the same size)?

Use a heat gun to warm the bolts before removing them. The threadlocker should soften and make for a somewhat easier removal.     Just my experience.

Yes, it's the same wheel.
