What do you guys use for Hip armor? I got my new suit today and the hip armor is quit lacking. rolled around the floor and found that my pelvis is the main point of contact when rolling around. it hurts just from being on floor.

- I've got a t-pro back protector and 'limb-tube' knee Armour for under my lined jeans.  It's top notch stuff and every review/test says it's great for dissipating energy.  Mercifully, I've never crash tested  any of my gear , so I can't speak to that part directly

Well, if it hurts, stop rollin' around on the floor, ya ijit.     Actually, good on you for trying to figure out points of contact if you hit the deck and where you are or are not sufficiently protected. 

T-pro in my leathers (Helimot's in-house armor in my Helimot suit).  My T-Pro hip pads are the kind that attach to the leathers, not the kind that come as part of the shorts.  They're bulkier than--for example--plain foam hip pads, but I've crashed the T-Pro a billion times and never had any kind of hip/leg injury.

I use them all the time under my bike shorts they are cheap and slip on in one go hard plastic hip and tailbone protection incased in breathable mesh
look kind of weird in a super hero kind of way but thats only if your prancing around with them  with nothing else on

Personally, I'd stay far away from hard plastic, particularly at your hip bone.

Its hard but not brittle hard , still maliable with your fingers .
Its only just slightly harder than CE approved soft armour .

i like the idea of the shorts because theres no pocket for hip armor here...well there is, but its more theigh armor then hip. its nothing more than  a foam pad like the back protector. the rest of the suits' armor is made of a hard plastic outer shell and memory foam underneath. It has CE tags so thaats what i assume it to be. hough, im trying to decide if i want to send it back. i got it at such a deal and the quality of it looks really high. Its just a bit tight on me.  im sitting in it now just to get a feel for how much it will break in.

Spidey, are you familar with the Dainese Pro shorts ?

They have hard armor hip padding with foam under the hard armor as well as a hard armor tailbone pad also with foam padding under the hard stuff.   Dolph

I'm not familiar with them.  I'm just don't like hard plastic armor backed by foam.  I used to think that because hard armor was tougher, it was better.  But my experience has been that hard armor translates a lot of the force of an impact.  It also (because it doesn't have give) tends to pull at your joints upon impact, ending up with burns from the armor or a hurt tendon or ligament.   I've end up bruised and beaten from hard armor.  Finally, it wears through leather because it pinches the leathers between the hard armor and the hard pavement.  Soft, impact-absorent armor (like T-Pro, not plain foam) has worked much better for me.  Less bruising, no burns or injured tendons/joints/etc, and no wearing through the leather.  YMMV, of course.
