Hi everyone,

Finished my bike trailer today. Posted a couple of pics for general info/ideas if anyone's interested.
Went for a 7x4 box style as I wanted to be able to use it for more than just bike transport.

Cheers

looks the goods! [thumbsup]  a similar color I'm painting mine over the holidays. Hammer tone finish
yeah the 7x4 size is good for bike transport.

did you make the front wheel support or do you buy it.

I bought it from www.rocketbikes.com.au
They were pretty good to deal with.

Thanks Struba  [thumbsup] Will check it out.
At the mo I'm using a piece of structural channel that bolts to the floor of my 7x4 to hold the front and back wheel in place. Looks at bit ugly, not to mention heavy.

Vossy,

This might give you a better idea of how I secure my bike. I opted for a "tyre down" and the front wheel clamp, both of which I bought from Dan at www.rocketbikes.com.au This alleviates the need to compress your front forks which obviously isn't so great on a road bike and can end badly, or bolt a channel along the floor of the trailer. It also makes for easy one person loading. I have however, put tie down points in front floor of the trailer (same as rear) should I want a bit of extra peace of mind and strap the front down, but the bike is rock solid with just the clamp and tyre down combo. If your interested you should talk to Dan, I talked him into doing a combo deal on both the front wheel clamp and the tyre down for me, tell him I sent you (Stu Price) and to do you a good price on combo deal, he owes me a favour [thumbsup]

So, I was thinking about the exact same system on the soon to be trailer - tyre down and the chock for the front...

Anyone else in for a group buy sometime soon?

mattyvas

Yeah maybe depends on my possible change of address.

goldFiSh

OK matty, chock only for the moment, so you can use it at the track!

Dockstrada

Funny that im working on a front chock and rear stand as we speek  ;)
If I wasn't who i was, I wouldn't be who I am !

OK Dock, count me in for a couple of production prototypes....
