Ever "talk" to other drivers/people with your exhaust?

I use my exhaust to sometimes let people know I have the right of way or when splitting lanes if I see a car drifting into my lane I pull my clutch in and give it a good rev.

My 130 DB nautilus horn does my talking at stop lights.   Oh what's wrong?  Having issues with your cell?

I too use a little blip of the throttle to clear the way or gain some much needed attention from distracted cagers.

But all this has me thinking, I really worry that one day as electric bikes really hit the market that there will be an increase in accidents just solely because the cagers won't hear them coming.  :-\  Almost like the Toyota Prius in parking lots, those damn cars can sneak up on anyone.

Yes, and the love letter always goes something like this:

yes, monster horns are worthless, i use the blip all the time, stupid people that dont pay attention at lights especially.

In stock form they are. But I swapped mine out for a pair that are damn impressive. They get much more attention and action than the pipes. Tho I usually start with the pipes as a "friendlier" suggestion/reminder that they are being an idiot, then lay into 'em with the horns when I'm done being nice. Which is in about 2 seconds.  [laugh] I bought this matched pair of horns at a Pepboy's and I can't remember the brand. It's not the ususal suspects like Fiamm, Hella or PIAA. I think they are actually made by Hella for them, IIRC seeing the Hella symbol on the package. You can see 'em in this pic somewhat. I was able to get them both mounted up cleanly and they blend in better than that damn charcaol cannister!  ;D Had to point them downward as they are damn loud! (120db) Still get great "bounce" off the ground.  [evil]

I've done it many a time, but then I realized I can't even hear a loud ass Harley with strait pipes from inside my cage unless I'm practically tailgating it.

Now it's got me thinking that sort of gesture only harms our already poor image in the view of the public.

I always did get a kick out of setting off car alarms with my old duc though. ;D

Holy shit!  That's awesome!  ;D

I like to idle at traffic lights in neutral (after the guy behind me stops). The biike is even LOUDER with the "rata tat tat" dry clutch banging away. It kinda sucks when im doing moto ref duties and I have to talk to racers. The only way to quite the bike down is pull in the clutch lever and back off the throttle, so basically im drifting, turning my head right to yell and not get killed by oncomming traffic, or drift in to the peloton. Good fun! I think I see an Autocom and a PA speaker in my future.

Speaking of loud exhausts, and speaking WITH loud exhausts( :P ), does anyone know what the laws are about that kind of stuff?  Is it state-specific?  Incident-specific?

Would it be relatively safe to say that since I hear loud choppers plowing around all the time that I'd be okay with a 696 with Termi's with the Db killers removed?  Or do those guys just get tickets all the time?

I look forward to revving up to get people's attention away from their phones and onto the road.  [evil]

Horn?  I just open my visor and scream "ARRROOOOOOOOOOGGAA"

My modded Termis let EVERYONE know I'm downshifting & slowing down

SolidSnake - DB laws are state specific, sometimes municipality specific too.  The state has no problems with my loud pipes, but the town I live in does.

It is diff everywhere ya go. I haven't had a prob anywhere in NorCal, YET. But I read about guys getting tickets for sound all the time in other parts of the state. And, technically it IS ILLEGAL to modify/change your exhaust if it "tampers" with anything emissions related or modifies the sound output to exceed the 80db closing limit.  [puke]
