Just wondering if the DP saddlebags will fit my monster with a chopped tail.  Do they mount to the frame section that was removed?

Are these bags any good or are there better alternatives out there?

thanks

In case you don't get better answers, I'll try.... (BTW: you should move this thread to Acc & Mods)

These bags are for bikes with low mounted exhaust cans. The same kind of bags, for bikes with high mounts, usually have brackets which needs the beer tray as the second mounting point.

If your bike has low mounts, these bags will fit, but I'm not really sure how well. You will at least have to make sure they're on real tight, or they might hit the wheel (NOT good). Also you should know that a passenger might experience trouble finding room for his/her feet on the foot pegs.

I know that the DP single bag setup for the SR's exhaust would not fit because of my tail chop.  The rack mounted to the second bracket that the stock fender thingy mounted to.  The one past the tail light.  That is where the single bag rack mounted.  I am not sure about the bags you have in question, but I would def. research before spending the money.

I have Cortech sport saddle bags that work great.  I was able to mount them between the seat and seat tray so they are kind of "locked" on the bike.  Plus Cortech makes a tail bag that clips to the saddle bags.  The saddle bags were 110 and the tail bag was 65...quite affordable and well worth the money.  I have the tail chopped too and they fit fine.
