Deal done.  Kinda bittersweet.  Nice to have cash in hand, still sucked to see such a beautiful bike go.  I snapped a bunch of parting shots, some of which I'll post later (once I get them off the camera).  I do have a couple nice pics of my wife on the bike, too.  ;)

A couple things made it easier... one, he's a professional (engineering manager), and he's about my dad's age.  Not a kid, and definitely not wild and crazy.  Two, he and his Ducati-aficionado friend brought a nice enclosed trailer (complete with wheel chocks, tie-downs, and Ducati poster inside) to lovingly haul it home.

I think I'm the youngest person to ever own that SS, by at least a decade, if not two.

Anyway... I'd probably see what the Cag owner's bottom-line price is, but my wife has me convinced that what we really need to do is get the one credit card with a balance paid off, then save and pay cash for another bike.  Besides, we're headed into winter.  So... we'll take a chunk of the proceeds and put them into the savings account, take the bulk of the remainder and pay down that one card.  Then we'll compute the savings in interest on that card, and add that amount to my monthly savings account auto-deposit.  By next spring I should be sitting on ~$3000, and the card will probably be paid off or very close to it (once the '98 GTI sells... which won't be as hard as selling the Duc, because I have another GTI to focus on).

To keep me from going crazy, Dad is going to haul Dave & I's CBR trackbike out to my place so I have a motorcycle in the garage to tinker on.  It still needs a couple brackets, another good radiator flush, a tire swap, and bodywork.
