I didn't mean to kick your balls - I'm happy you were able to laugh, which was my intention, rather than be offended. ;)

1) I didn't really have you in mind when I wrote that.

3) I thought you promised to stop talking to me. One can dream.

It's a community...remember.

I thought the kick was  was excellent. I didn't appreciate your characterization of our membership.

I promised to stop pming you with things you didn't want to hear or didn't appreciate because you think I don't like you. I've met you and liked you in person. You are actually funny at times.

Whenever  I tire of your bilious outlook on life and the way you talk to people here, however, I'll feel free to let you know.

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it

I was just directed to this thread when I pm'd Mash to call him a douche bag.  I never would have seen this thread to comment on it otherwise.  Anyways...If you feel guilty or worry about looking unethical, why not just post in the classified ad that "Hey I snagged this baby for free, but I think I can fleece someone for $165 profit" ?   I told Mash in my PM this is not the first time I've seen him using the Ducati Monster Forum in order to turn a personal profit.  Perhaps he should contact the mods about getting set up on the "Minor Sponsor Board".

Just a little background here...I pm'd the person that GAVE the backrest to Mash, The guy wanted to give it away locally so he did not have to set up a paypal account just to get paid for the cost of shipping the item. The guy even ended his classified ad with "Pay it Forward".  I pm'd the guy and told him I was interested, but would be willing to wait a week or so to see if he could give it to someone that could USE IT locally, but I'd pay for shipping if he did not.  Long story short, Mash got it and now it'll cost me $165 to get it.  NO THANKS!

I guess when it comes right down to it,  you can do whatever you'd like with the item, actually I have a couple of suggestions for you.  If you can fleece your fellow members here and make a nice personal profit off of us, go right ahead.  BUT, please don't act like you're doing us a big favor by offering an item at half of the cost of retail, when you got it for free under the assumption that you were PAYING IT FORWARD.

In response to Sac's post...

Now please, enlighten me as to why my question is bullshit?

Kinda because of this:

Because you don't give a make the beast with two backs whether it is ethical or not. You don't now and you didn't then. Again, it is not even an ethical question. Its a matter of, does Mash feel all sorts of happy with himself? You clearly do. You took a part that it turns out you have no need for. Instead of contacting the previous owner to see if he a) wanted to split the cost b) had anyone else interested c) wanted it back, you did what you wanted. Instead of "paying it forward" you thought of the cash. Ethical or not its a dick move and I hope everyone that reads this thread refuses to give you anything for free ever again out of fear you'll just turn around and sell it when the intent was for it to be a gift. You did something douchey and wanted to look like a nice guy. I think that is pretty much the whole story.

This reminds me of the guys who stand outside of baseball games with their kid asking if anyone has an extra ticket so little Johnny can see the game. When they collect a couple of tickets the song then becomes, "We got two extra tickets! Only $20 each!"

sac
HATERS GONNA HATE.

Monstermash

Yeah, I'm a douchbag because Sac and Bmonty both think so. I never do anything for anyone else and it's all about me.

Oh wait, What about the time that I did a complet service for a local member because he had fallen on hard times and needed to sell the bike to support his family? He got more money for it because the service was complete. So that was all about me right?

Or the times I have sent out parts to members who needed them to get their bike running again? Yup, all about me.

Then there was the time a local rider crashed his bike and because of the insurance deductable was not going to be able to get it fixed so I fixed it and painted it for free? Yeah, again I must have been thinking about myself.

I also remember on TOB there was a member who's gear was stolen so I sent him an extra jacket I had to get him started on replacing it.

There are many more examples I could give but I think you may start to see the big picture. So what, I got something for free that's actually worth something. So now I'm required to give it away?

I'm such a terrible person. I guess I don't deserve to grace the same pages as you guys.

And no offense Sac, but you don't have a clue what you're talking about. I do care about whether it's ethical or not. That is the reason for the thread. I see things how I see them and it's sometimes a good idea to try and see things through others eyes and get their opinions. You obviously have zero interest in anyone else's opinion. It's only you and what you think that counts in this world which is evident from your posts in this thread.

Additionally as I've mentioned previously, no one else posted in the thread where the guy was giving it away so I asked for it. I didn't represent that I really needed it I simply pm'd him and told him if no one else wanted it I would take it. I had planned on using it but changed my mind and decided to keep the Monster for solo riding only. If Bmonty wanted it so bad he should have posted a reply rather than just pm'ing the guy. Also, if he had pm'ed me here and told me he asked the other guy for it before me and explained the circumstances I would have just given it to him. But rather he thought it was a better idea to send me a pm telling me what a make the beast with two backsing douchbag I am for selling something I got for free.

So yeah, if you want it now, it will cost you. It will be about $329 + $15 for shipping right from Monstrack.
I've been wallowing in my own chaotic and insecure delusions.

I think it's a realy dick move.  the anti-PIF.

why post asking if the intent is to argue with solicited opinions?

the question wasn't about all the good stuff done over time...it was about this particular thing.
