I just removed my stock rear sets as I am gonna get them sand blasted next week so I can repaint as they were pitted and flaking. Just wanted to know if anything can be done to clean up the foot pegs. I considered buying aftermarket pegs but all of them seem to be just for the front pegs. There doesn't seem to be an extra hole for the ball bearings and spring that the rear need to stay up.

Also  I considered painting them as well but don't want to do it if the paint is just going  to wear off in a few km's.
Is there some product I can use on them to make them shinier? BTW they are on a Monster 1000ie.

Hey Twisty

The OME foot pegs are interchangeable front to rear. [thumbsup]
I cleaned mine up with with chemtec Blitz aluminum cleaner and wire brush http://www.chemtech.net.au/wn_chemtech1l.html
Bloody Brian is going to get all the secrets and be so envious of those pictures
Then sprayed them with clear lacquer.

I also nickle plated all the foot peg pins and mounting bolts for the rear sets.

If you have it in pieces send hardware of for chroming looks good. 8)

DONE!  [thumbsup]

I used paint stripper to get rid of the old peeling flaking paint. Sanded all the oxidization off. Wiped with prepsol. Used a metal etch primer then painted with wheel paint in a satin black. Looks much better.
Also found out my rear brake switch was rooted so I had to replace it.
