GPS as a dashboard

Hi, I was thinking to remove the whole dashboard (mine is a custom made one, not the original Monster dashboard so no great loss here) and to install a GPS unit in its place.
as I only have a speedometer in the dash, the GPS can do that.

my question is: is the speedo accurate enough? I mean the one from the GPS? are these devices accurate enough to replace the speedo?

cheers

I know guys who have done so, seems to work for them OK.   I think your GPS will give accurate speed indications.

But....   (at least in my part of the world), to do so is not strictly legal.  Which may or may not be relevant and/or concern you.

what if you lose Sat lock?
Then.... you'd have no indication of how fast you're travelling.  My GPS only loses Sat in tunnels.

There are alternatives....
