well ive been having an electrical gremlin since ive got my 796, and its so intermittant, til this week,
it used to happen in the mornings, after not being used for a few days, i would start my bike it would do one revolution then blank out the memory in my cluster(clock and trip), but it would start right up after that
on wed it started right up in the morning, but when i went to start it at lunch time, it was acting up, so i went to ducati minneapolis to see if they could do anything about it, but it wasnt acting up for them, so again, i shrugged it off, and went on my way

i didnt ride it yesterday, but i rode it today, and same thing as wed.. so im just trying to figure out a pattern to the madness
so i took the battery out, and im going to put it on the trickle charger tonight, and test it at work in the morning

Starter solenoid?

On my first monster I had to replace that a few times.  Thank goodness it was on warranty.  Todd at Primo diagnosed it right away.
Have you tried that?

I had a weird intermittent starting issue with my Monster a while back. Sometimes it started with full power, sometimes it cranked lazily. Sometimes it would just click. Turned it was just the battery not holding a charge for very long. I hope that's all it was for you. If the new battery solves it, you might want to spend $30 on an automatic battery tender and plug the bike in to that when it's not used regularly.
Two wheels good. Four wheels bad.
