I just wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Chris, I'm 34 years old and started riding about 10 years ago.  I had ridden dirt bikes when I was younger and purchased a Harley XL1200C anniversary edition for my first street bike.  I hated the bike and it never should have been a first bike for me.  I sold it and purchased a new Honda 600rr and loved the bike.  I was just shy of paying it off when I got a divorce and for financial reasons I had to sell it.  Something I terribly regret.  I remarried last year and as of the beginning of this year finally got everything paid off from my divorce and my wife and I are in fantastic financial shape again.  After meeting the prerequisite of purchasing my wife a 2011 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara edition I was given the green light to embark on my obsession again.

I purchased a 2012 Monster 1100 evo, and I could not be happier.  It is one of the most raw and visceral riding experiences I have had in my life.  There is really nothing like it.  I've only done a few minor things such as Rizoma Spy R mirrors and Sportline grips.  And No...I haven't got rid of that darn 7-8  mm gap between the grips and the bar ends.  [bang]  I can't decide if I'm going to get a new bar...a black Rizoma one or go with Clip-Ons.  Suffice to say I will most likely grind down the index pegs and move the controls but why the heck couldn't they make them normal length???  One of the things I like about the bike right now is the more relaxed riding position as compared to a Supersport.  I'm not sure if I want to go that route yet.  I also ordered T-Rex sliders for front, frame and rear.  Fed Ex says they will be here tomorrow.   :)

Anyways, just wanted to say hello to everyone.  I've been drooling over everyone's bikes on here for quite some time, specifically the Sport Classics.  I was never very interested in them but now I can't stop thinking about getting one.......like I said..... obsessed.....

welcome  [clap] [clap]

The bike looks awesome (though I'd suggest doing something with that muffler)  [thumbsup]

Could you add some sort of spacer between the grips and the controls so that they stick out a bit more?  Maybe even trip the 7mm off the end of the bars?

Thank you Sir!  Ya, I looked all over the Internet for some sort of billet alluminum spacer which wouldn't provide any friction on the throttle side.  No such luck, I read the thread on cutting off the end of the handlebars to close the gap but was concerned it would prevent me from changing back to stock grips or others in the future.  Bottom line is I haven't committed to a course of action yet...I'll probably just end up grinding the nubs off but want to do a bit more looking at clip-ons etc...

And yes, the exhaust doesn't even look like it belongs on the bike.  I'm working some contract this month and I'm hoping to put the Carbon Termi's on there by Christmas!!!!

Another option might be to drill new holes 7-8mm nearer the ends of the bars rather than grinding the nubs off.  Sometimes when you grind the nubs off the pods will spin on the bars which is really annoying.

Stay away from Wilsons ;-)

I bought my bike at Wilson's.....Should I be concerned about getting service done there?  I just hit my 600 and need the first service done.

And fear of the controllers spinning is why I haven't done anything yet....

No, their service plan was a rip off, was about $100 per month....it didn't add up.....now I'm hesitant to take my bike there....... ???

Since I was at 700 miles and couldn't find another certified Ducati Service Center in Fresno I did take it to Wilson's.  They did a great job...yep, it was $200 for the 600 mile service but they even wired my rear wheel for me  :)
