It's been about 3 1/2 months since breaking my leg and I'm FINALLY back on the bike! While I was recovering I had the 14T sprocket installed and what a difference it makes! Power seems to be delivered more consistently in 1st and 2nd, and low speed navigation I feel more confident with. It makes me wonder if I'd had the same accident if it was installed. The bike also starts up now immediately and hasn't stalled once where it had trouble before. After a few hours back on her, the 3 months on crutches seems fair. I can currently ride better than I can walk! I hope I go injury free and can continue to love this machine. Any riders in the Reno/Tahoe area feel like showing this rookie a few tips let me know. The weather certainly is oddly warm enough to ride. Thanks!

Welcome back Pete!  [thumbsup]

I think the 14 tooth mod was the most significant and certainly most noticeable change I made to my S2R800 (including the major suspension upgrade).  Not only was the bike smoother to ride on surface streets, it really improved the pull out of corners.  Downsides are a slightly higher rev count on the highway and a tendency to raisejavascript:void(0); the front tire, but one adapts  [Dolph]

Glad to hear that you seem to be mending well!!! Just take it easy for a while and do your physiotherapy.

And you see... Sometimes the old man does know best.  ;) Go back and read all my comments including those before you took your fall. My biggest concern is your mastery of the controls and learning to use a light touch. That was a hard lesson to learn. Many of the people here got their start with trials bikes and enduros, and learned motorcycle dynamics at a less threatening pace in a usually more forgiving environment. Ducatis might be light for a motorcycle but they sure aren't bicycles or trials bikes!

Stay Safe! (and enjoy that 14T ;))
