my wife wants us to go skydiving this summer.

I can honestly say I'm scared shit-less!!!  [laugh]

I love flying, but I'm actually terrified of heights. I'm not totally sure how that works  ???

Anyways, I love being in the plane, but the second the door opens, I turn into a frightened school girl! Still, I'm going to do it...I feel liked I'd have to turn in my man card if I don't  ;D

I'm a pilot and now almost a licensed skydiver and I get uncomfortable in tall buildings. There is nothing like your first jump, i would say the adrenaline rush of the second jump was about 1/4 of that of the first jump. You'll definitely always hold the experience close to you for the rest of your life. The first thing everyone says when they land is that they immediately want to do it again. Everyone wants to go a second time after they are done, thats the best advice I can give in terms of cooling the nerves.

I graduated aff in 8 jumps. I went for jump 7 from 13500 at cross keys in new jersey. It had been 1.5 months since my last jump and I was quite rusty. I exited and was unable to get stable until 9000ft. I then did a front flip and then a back flip, both were fine and totally awesome. I then went to do a 360. As I was starting at around 7000 I must have dropped my shoulder and went into being unstable, started flipping out of control probably for 20 flips. I was relaxing and arching but could not get stable. All you can do is try to not panic and relax. I feel i didn't panic but could not regain control. Still flipping at 4500 my instructor dived in and grabbed me and pulled my chute for me. I was still spinning when he pulled so I had line twists on opening. The opening was also extremely violent and put two huge bruises on my thighs from the shock of the harness. Fortunately the line twists were very easy to get out of. It was a wild ride and I basically owe my instructor for saving my life (maybe not saving my life but saving me from having to pull my chute while on my back which could have put me in serious trouble).

I then took a break and contemplated my life while eating a hotdog.

Having already spent 2k on my latest adventure I went back to repeat the jump. I determined I have gone too far to get to this level and there was no way I was going to quit. This time I was able to get stable very quickly. Perform front and back flips well. 360 then track for 5 seconds and then pull. It was good and I passed. When I landed they announced that I graduated aff and the whole ground crew and spectators did something special for me.

So now 8 jumps total. I would like to go back to the wind tunnel to get more practice. Probably going again in two weeks.  ;D

I spent all of my skydiving money on furnishing a new apartment, and a new Camaro...  I need to regroup my finances, before I can jump again. : (
