A happy fathers day to all the DMF dads out there...except the crazy Aussies have to wait until October.

If you still have your dad...cherish him. If you don't then cherish the memories.

If you didn't or don't like your dad then be the kind of dad your kids will cherish.

a completely different way than you, you will be open to understand how that

This. And remember the men who where there when a dad figure was needed.

I'm one of the lucky who still has their pop - who I adore, who is my hero, teacher, subtle jokester... For example:

As a kid, I decided I wanted a pheasant for a pet.  So my dad tells me that if you shake salt on a pheasant's tail feathers, they'll temporarily freeze in place so I'd be able to pick it up and bring it in.

Sooooo.... I go out and construct a Wile E. coyote type box propped up with a stick and a string attached to the stick and me around the corner of the garage with a shaker o' salt just waiting for an unsuspecting pheasant to get salted and become my BFF.

I think I was out there for an hour, pheasants in sight but way smarter than me.

Thanks dad.     [laugh]

my dad was (and still is) quite the prankster...

when i was about 7, he took the family on a drive deep into the pine barrens of jersey. the pine barrens are covered with small, twisty, bumpy dirt roads. my dad and his friends knew their way around them very well. we spent the day exploring, and picnicking. At dusk we started our way home, and dad was telling us scary "legend" stories about the jersey devil. as it got darker, we became "lost". it was alarming because her never got lost - and then, the bronco broke down. he got out of the truck and told us not to get out, and that he would be right back. his mother, my mother, my two brothers, and i all sat in the darkness and waited. we then heard a shrieking sound off in the distance that was getting closer, and circling around us. we were terrified. we yelled to my dad, he didn't answer. then, the noise was close - really close, followed by scratching on the roof of the bronco. we all screamed. including my mother and my grandmother. my dad was in the doghouse for weeks.

[laugh] [laugh] love you dad!
