It's funny.  I've been stopped many times.  Tickets issued?  2.  Times stopped?  Um...  Not sure I should disclose that.  Either way, just being real, and taking responsibility goes a long way instead of some bullshit.  I crashed running when I was young and dumb at nearly 100MPH and am lucky to be alive.  I learned a lesson then.

JM

I always take responsibility. Still no warnings. I don't think Valley cops give warnings. lol

I ran once, back in '68, I think it was. I was on a Triumph 200 Cub and my buddy was on a Honda 160. We were coming downhill on a 4 lane at about 70, with a tail wind, and a LEO was writing someone on the shoulder. He saw us coming and waved to us to pull over. We kept going and exited at the first onramp that we came to and headed the other way. Going back uphill was a bit slower going. We never did see the official again.............

Running in the State of California is a Felony.  Not worth running, not one bit.  Dead or a lifelong financial handicap.  Take the ticket......

PS here is the super secret answer to when a cop asks you how fast you are going;  "Obviously fast enough to get pulled over Sir".  You neither admit guilt nor do you jerk off the LEO stopping you.  They hate liars and they ticket the guilty.  That response has gotten me out of a ticket every time I used it.

I'm glad the professional had the good sense to know high speeds in that situation would be dangerous for all involved.

I've been stopped once and warned once. The LEO told me that nearly every MC stop he makes, someone is lacking at least one of the following:
1. state minimum safety gear
2. motorcycle endorsement
3. insurance
4. proper registration
Since I had all of the above and wasn't going REALLY fast, he said slow it down.

My dad told me that I'd probably be able to outrun a squad car if I were really clever, but no one can really outrun the radio. I took him at his word.

Wish that was the case with me. I was recently stopped for the first time ever on a bike. Stopped for speeding (said I was going 81 in a 65, seemed about right). Proceeded to nit pick the shit out of my bike despite being fully geared, licensed, registered, and insured. Rode away with 3 citations: speeding, adequate mufflers not installed, and license plate not properly mounted.

It's a misdemeanor.

I think many of you are missing the point of this thread.

While I commend you for having the good sense to stop, it isn't about your experiences when you get pulled over.

Tricky  :-\.

Can't fool me.  It's about your experiences when you don't get pulled over, isn't it?

Umm not at speeds of 155mph.  It is Felony reckless endangerment.  Unless something changed since 1991.........  I was young and stupid once a long time ago in the la la land of Orange County.  I hate to admit it on a forum as I am far from the person I once was.  Make no mistake, it can be a Felony.

Oh, so you left out the info that would bump it to a felony.  ;)

Let's bring this back to the stupidity part and leave out the legal nuances...K?

Yup tis' bout as stupid as stupid gets.......  Running is dangerous and truly not worthy of saving a few bucks.....  I figured one ought to hear about just how stupid from the horses mouth.  In my defense when I did rabbit (23 years ago) everyone I knew only got a misdemeanor when caught.  Imagine my surprise.   [bang]

Thinking about it all I can say is don't do it.
