back to the thread...

this means that Melvin is possibly the 'greenest' most environmentally friendly on the DMF...

although there was Jim G on the old board - he had BST and a carbon tank - and everything else was black gold too!

I'll try and do my piece for the planet too! got a beautiful ignition cover last week (there you go Tool!)...

See exactly....
Now I need more CF.
Wheels
Tank
Might get custom swing arm.....
Mmmmm what else?

You wanna earn some _serious_ "carbon credits"?

How about a hand built carbon fiber _frame!_

yeah nice.  ;)
Saw that on the BST site.
Don't know if I'd like to see that price on it.

A company called Carbon Dream used to have a frame/swingarm/tank/bodywork kit for a 996/998, it cost about $80kUS (and that was back when the AUD bought only 50 or so US cents)...

big (and just for Tool, _I_ didn't buy it 'cause _I_ didn't have that sort of money spare ;)  )

so, dude, you've bought a desmosedici, with forged magnesium wheels in very specific sizes for very specific reasons and you're gonna mess with it? [bang]
firstly, they're FORGED MAGNESIUM!! BST's will not be lighter by more than a few ounces (if that!)
secondly, buy an R1 if you want to mess with a poorly handling fast bike, i mean really, do you think you can improve on a desmosedici?

paul.
p.s, i'm probably just very jealous [cheeky]

like this one

I wonder what bike it's for? No lower rear engine/swingarm mounts, but not 4 cylinder kind of wide across the front - maybe it's one of the Kenny Roberts RC211V motored GP bike frames? I think they made a few carbon ones before going to entirely machined from billet...

It does look sweet though, eh?

It’s all about the fact that I can’t get the tires I feel most confident on; I’m not spending the money trying to get more performance out of the machine that is already beyond my capability by a long way.

Each stock tire is $600 each  giving a pro rider 12 odd laps so maybe give me 2 track days.

I can get top Pirellis slicks for $300 that would probably last me 6 track days . So it’s all about cost The fact that the BST are a few grams lighter could be the difference between  eating 1 aranchini or 2 on the Thursday night social meet

One guy i know has only 2000 km of street riding on his and is due for a new set

The fact I may mess with any geometry of the bike by changing the wheels will only effect a guy that can do sub 1.40 at the creek and I am far from that
If I wasn't who i was, I wouldn't be who I am !

And besides there Carbon Fibre and that's what it's all about.
