999 sachs on my s2r1000

So as the title states I wanna put a 999 sachs in my s2r1k. What all is required when trying this?

It will probably bolt in. Not sure if any reservoir issues will result.

Just be aware that the spring rate and valving are different between a Monster and a SBK due to the different linkage rates.

i mounted one on my s2r 800.
theres a tab there that needs to be bent and it will slip right on, you don't even gotta cut it.
you will have to remove the black useless box and relocate some parts

Rizoma rearsets, full Zard CF dual exhaust, Rizoma clipons, Sargent seat, 999 shock, golden brembo calipers/rotors upgrade,adjustable levers and billet grips, some CF (belt covers, heel guards, chain guard sprocket cover, fender, bellypan), integrated R6 tail light, bar end mirrors

Can you post some pictures? I want to put a new shock on my 2002 620 and am wondering what the best eBay take off shock would be. S4R looks good as well.

The S4R will also need the spring swap. Ask me how I know ;) But it does fit.
M620 turned M800 but then back to M620 after the M800 died at 110k, and now to Multi 1000.

the 999 does not have a Sachs unit AFAIK. only the 749.

the 749S and the 999 base model have a showa.

Theres a difference between the two (ill let you guess which one is beter).

I have the 999 Showa, and unless you can snag it for cheap. Its really not worth it. If your in the hole for $300 with the shock and spring swap etc. Youre much better off with one of the penske emulsion shocks which run about $600.

ill try and get a pic for ya later, but those can be had for dirt cheap.
i paid $35 shipped for a 999 one on eBay with low miles, and improvement is definitely noticeable.
you can probably sell your stock one for same price or even more who knows.
but for 30-40 bucks can't go wrong, and you get rid of that nonsense under the seat as well.

Case S2R

I have one (Showa 999 shock) on my S2R, and while it is an upgrade it may not be the best solution.

The 999 has a different leverage ratio on the rear suspension so a 999 spring for a 180lb guy will be VERY soft on the monster, so you put a stiffer spring on the 999 showa and now the stock valving is not strong enough to control the shock, so then you open up the shock and have it revalved and "according to my suspension guy" 170/180 lbs is about the limit to where you can make the rebuilt valving control an appropriate spring.  Mine was run on a shock dyno to see what was happening-- I was not there when this happened.

My experience tells me... If you are a lighter rider, then you can make it work, you will be about $300+ into the shock when all is said and done.  Yes, mine is much improved over stock, but it was not a big improvement till it was rebuilt and dialed in.
