Oh, body and frame on this thing are extremely rust free, but it came with a fair amount of issues (which took up all my winter spare time  ;D). But I got it for real cheap because of that, and I have great mechanically inclined friends who help me :)

Finally got the Ducati out of storage today..ice on the driveway finally melted!. First stop, after praying to the motorcycle deities that I would make it to one of the only two gas stations in town that have 92 octane ;D, rode to my buddy's house to check tire air pressure. Have to admit I'd forgotten how much fun the Ducati is. Also, console is still fubared, but oh well, bike's functioning fine.

Why 92 octane?

Do you have Hi Comp pistons?

Just going by what the owners manual said about not using less than 95 octane. Since 92 is the highest I can get here, that's what I'm limited to.

The manual is printed based on a different rating system.

By burning 92, all you're doing is creating excess carbon.

Your bike will run better on 87.

Google RON vs MON vs the average, which is how our fuel is rated.

The manual is using RON (Research octane number).  We use AKI (Anti Knock Index) which is an average of RON and MON (Motor Octane Number).  MON is a different test sequence, with lower numbers.  Using a higher octane than needed not only is a waste of money, but can reduce performance and cause carbon build up in your engine, particularly if you are using E 10.

If it doesn't ping use regular.

Ah, ducpainter beat me to it.

What they said.  My M750 isn't a big fan of anything other than 87.  it got more tolerant after changing the tubes, but still seems to lack pep when running a higher octane.
