I would be careful about reading too much into test times at this point.  ;D
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

I've never noticed a dirt-bike style front disc guard like that on a non-dirt race bike; have I just not been paying attention? And I wonder about why - to keep the race brakes up to temp?   ???

They've been using 'em for a while, and yes, to keep the temps up, and even to the extent that they can use the carbon brakes in wet conditions.
