Just wondering if anyone has been in a mild crash in vented textile.  I currently have a vanson perf leather jacket but I think I lost like 50 lbs this morning sweating on my way in.  I was looking at the field sheer hight temp jacket.  I just dont want to get a situation and the gear fails to save my skin.

I look at it this way, I've been hit wearing a denim jacket with a sweat shirt underneath it @ 85mph on the interstate. I slid an extended distance on my right shoulder, I've had worse rash from rug burns. I figure my vented, textile jacket with padding has to provide at least the same protection as that. I don't plan on wearing it for more than one crash regardless of what it's made from. So if it protects me once and is shredded in the process so be it.

My Fieldsheer textile got slightly shredded from the elbow-armpit in a mild crash.  It didnt go through all layers though, just the outermost... and no road rash.  On hot days, i'd open up the back vent and 2 chest vents.  The jacket would puff up at freeway speeds and 1.  I'd look really buff   2.  Felt like a tornado fan cooling me down.

I was in a serious crash (shattered femur) and was wearing a Teknic super vent jacket and I didn't get any road rash and it held up really well.  Only one spot on the elbow has like some small snags.  Very Very happy with the jacket.  I wear it everyday its hot here in Texas (which is alot).

I bought myself a Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket today. It was about 98 and humid as hell today and it felt pretty good.

You may want to look at this jacket as well.
