He had surgery on his shoulder/collar bone, and has been off the radar for a while. At last conversation, he was resting and taking it easy.

Yeah, I checked in with him via email and he said he was doing better, and expected to be back at work ~5wks post surgery. He said he definitely preferred to be on the giving rather than the receiving end of any scalpel work.  And hoped to be riding again in a week or so.

Side note: the week after his unfortunate incident, datv and I were out for a little ride and came upon a group of sportbikers dusting off one of their friends at the exact same spot. It is a treacherous corner, for sure.

not to threadjack... but yeah, i was staying at a b&b in that area last month and picked up a rider and her bike who crashed near that turn too. good thing for her that i was driving my truck that day... i guess AAA doesn't tow bikes...

ride safe...

Ya I know that spot well. That's a first gear spot just for good measure. That spot plus any variable...gravel, oncoming bone head, deer, wet, = sucky times.
I think that's where one of the first fatalities of the year was. Drunk pick-up from Bolinas hit 2 bikers.  :-[
