Anyone see this crap?

AMA SBK as we know it is officially dead. Wonder what the factories do now? Start their own series? Kinda like the days of IRL and CART racing? That's not good. Oh well, I guess AMA is laughing all the way to the bank while DMG and the tracks sit around and wonder where all the fans went. Thank goodness for SpeedTV and World SBK and MotoGP. [clap]

Actually was agreed upon to have a factory series.  The factories pussied out.

QuoteYep.  Basically, JU got DMG to concede to every demand that the OEMs had.  He got them to go with WSBK rules, no tire supplier, no fuel supplier, EVERYTHING the OEMs said they wanted.  The OEMs then said they wanted more and he got them that too.  Then when they had everything they asked for, they still backed down and wouldn't do it.  And, he basically insinuated (he wouldn't name names) that the two people responsible for this breakdown were Ray Blank of American Honda and Mel Harris of American Suzuki.

Also posted by darylbowden in another section of the board:

QuoteYamaha, Ducati, Aprilia and BMW will race in American Superbike as will M4 Emgo.  I'm pretty sure Jordan and Corona will still be on board too.  Not all is lost is AMA racing.  I fully expect everything to turn out just fine and within 2 years Suzuki and Honda will be back.  I don't think Kawasaki will be missed one way or the other

Sounds like a genuine head banging contest. The factories are spoiled little kids for sure and now they have a new home room teacher and prinicpal that will change the rules. Not throwing rocks at DMG but good luck to them trying to make everyone happy: promoters, track owners, riders, teams, factories and first and foremost, the fans. Regardless how good or bad it becomes I'll still TIVO the WorldSBK and MotoGP first and worry about AMA/DMG racing a distant second.

Here we go, as I predicted, let the head banging commence!

Sounds like a good opportunity for Muzzy to get back into US Superbike racing!

If he does maybe I can get a good deal on a replacement Kerker megaphone pipe for my Eddie Lawson Replica! [moto]

Thought I would kick this thread back to life. Looks like the Battle of Race Series has begun in earnest. This was expected but now it's fact. No lover of the AMA or the new DMG race format but this surely smells of the IRL vs CART days for sure. Will see who folds first... DMG or MIC. Could be interesting racing, you never know. But damn glad we have MotoGP and WorldSBK on SpeedTV. [thumbsup]
