Exhaust leak

Found an air leak between the header and mid pipe joint on my after market exhaust system so I have to re-install.  I used coper permatex high temp gasket maker.  Is there anything better?  Should I use the same thing on the re-install?       
Life is never ours to keep, we borrow it and then we have to give it back.

I had good luck reusing my steel mesh donut gasket along with the Permatex.
