Suggestions on Winter Riding Pants?

I need a pair of pants that I can slip over my fancy pants when riding to and from work this winter.  I work at night and have a 30 to 40 minute commute home at about 8am in the morning.  I suffered through last year with just my pants, but after a couple of mornings in the 20's, I would like something extra on the legs this year.  I really just want something that will keep the air off and can't pull the trigger on chaps (although the thoughts of doing YMCA on my monster at the stoplights might help to keep me awake).  Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm happy with the Dainese D-Dry pants. [thumbsup]

If you're cold, you might also want to look into a heated jacket liner, warming up your core will help a lot.

I am pretty tolerant to the cold (I guess from years of biking - the pedaling variety- in it).  Although, I never ran 70 mph on my bicycle.

I looked at some pants that would attach to my Spidi jacket and they are still an option, but I was probing for other suggestions that would minimize the hassle.  (not that a zipper would be much hassle, but after working 12 hours at night, breathing can be a hassle).  I figured someone made a slip over pant (kind of like chaps) that wouldn't be bulky in my backpack on my ride in the night before.  (Mainly because I go to school 3 nights a week before work and the home to school to work ride is about 48 miles).

Thx for the help.

Check out the Olympia Ranger overpants.  http://www.olympiamotosports.com/mensrangerpant/mensrangerpant.htm

I have the airglide mesh pants, and w/ the insulated liner in I've been in mid 30s and still been warm.  The ranger is unvented, so should be even warmer.

As far as winter clothing goes, all I can say is: layers layers layers.  For the really cold stuff (I don't commute, mind you) I've been thinking about getting a set of down thermal underwear.  I'd do it like this (from your body, out)

Silk/polypro lining to wick moisture
Down thermals
Jeans/slacks/normal pants
Outer shell to block wind and moisture (when down gets wet, it's absolutely useless)

I think from there the shell you choose simply comes down to fit.  Anything with Goretex is gonna be great, but it's also going to be expensive.  Considering you use it on an almost daily basis though, it may be worth it.  If the pants have a stirrup that goes under your boots, that's also a bonus.  You may also try gaiters to keep the wind out of your boots.

That being said, make sure there are pics of you doing the YMCA at said stop light if you decide to go the chaps route.
