I just got back from the dealer and we have reached a price of $12,000 (+ $600 for setup / PDI) for the 2007 Titanium S4R (new).  This is after several weeks of negotiation, price in Canadian $'s with tax comes to $14,249 total.  This is as good as it's gonna get on the price tag, and they are going to deliver it free, in a van, so I can stare at it all winter long.

I have till Monday to let them know, what do you guys think of this price?

Almost 1 year ago I took the same bike home for about $13,500. OTD, with all the registration and license fees included. So I'd say you're doing alright. They don't make 'em like they use to, so I'd jump on it.

I should mention that the MSRP here in Canada is $15,995.    Thanks for looking.

Sounds like a pretty typical "deal"  by a pretty typical dealer.  I paid just about the same for a demo '07 S4R w/200 miles back in April.  Problem is S4R's are off the menu for 2009 and whats left for '08 are only available in S4RS versions $$.  Unless you want to buy an '07 or '08 S4RS $$,  '09 1100 Monster or step way up to a Street Fighter $$$ an '07 S4R is about your only option. Because of this I expect left overs in show rooms to hold their price.  Personally I would not let a few hundred dollars dictate such a decision but include factors like dealer service, competency of the service department, etc.   Most dealers offer 10% off parts, service and equipment if you buy  from them.  Savings over a couple years can easily offset $200 either way.   One thing I would demand from the dealer is the 2 year unlimited milage warranty begins when the riding season reopens next year. No reason to burn warranty time for a brand spanking new bike sitting in your garage collecting dust and drool ;D.    All that said I LOVE my Ti '07 and would not trade it away for anything.   If you do decide to jump on it, save up your Christmas money because you WILL be looking to put Termi's, slip-on or full system on it the first year.

If you must have a brand new bike, it's not a bad price. I however, would wait until I found a very low mileage, pre-owned bike that has already been broken in and may already have exhaust mods and etc. There are tons of bikes for sale on the net due to the economy issues. Just my $.02.

I bought a brand new 2007 S4R Testretta, Titanium.  Back in Sept.  I got it for 10,300.00 out the door.  7 miles on the OD.  I took bids on Uship.com for a couple weeks, and ended up getting it shipped to me for 200 bucks.

I can't remember if the dealerships paided 10, or 10,500.00 for that bike but it's right there.  The 2009's are now out. They are desperate to sell.  You are paying too much.

I contacted DNA, and said this is the bike I want, this is the color I want.  And they responded with a list of dealerships that still had them.  Granted it wasn't many.  But I called all of them, made them offers, talked them down, got them to compete.  And eventually bought the best deal, not the bottom price, but close and the best deal.  They were desperate to sell that bike.  A couple dealerships were offering me crazy incentives to get that bike off there showroom floor.

I am in Canada but that is still a big difference in price even with the exchange.  I think I might have to pass on it for now and let them make the next move.

It's as much off msrp as anyone is bragging about here in the states.    If you don't get it at least keep looking and get something in the Spring.   life is too short to haggle all the fun away over 500 bucks.

If this deal doesn't happen I will still be looking throughout the winter, if I don't find what Im looking for there will be lots of new bikes available in the spring.  I'll be riding something when the snow is gone thats for sure.  This is a terrible time to buy... beginning of winter, just before Christmas with the economy in the toilet.  I think that the price should reflect this.  If not, I have no reason not to wait, it will probably still be sitting there in the spring.
