Does anyone know of any published data/numbers for the above mentioned system/configuration? Or have had an "Official Inspection Test" done on their bike? I wanna ride Laguna Seca real bad this year and I know for a fact I'm not gonna pass the 92Db restriction w/o baffles. NOT EVEN CLOSE! Normally this is a good thing but not when you are gonna be tested on it.  >:(

I have saved my baffles for just such an occasion but I need to be sure before signing up and schlepping (sp?) down there 'cuz I don't wanna get booted and miss out on all the fun I coulda had...

Any info? Suggestions? There are no noise test stations anywhere in NorCal that I know of (not that I wanna go there and have some overzealous noise nazi lookin' at my bike ya know?). ONLY LAGUNA SECA DAMMIT!!  :P

If you know the rules for making the measurements (distance from bike , rpms, angle, whatever) you can buy a cheap sound pressure meter from Radio Shack (last I knew they were around $30).  That will at least tell you if you have a chance.

Sold: 2007 S2R1000 for canyon carving and commuting - DP ECU, PCIII, BMC air filter with open box, Zard full exhaust, Race-tech fork internals, Ohlins steering damper, and a Penske 8987 triple clicker

2000 996XU (extra ugly) for track days - BST carbon wheels, Ohlins shock, reworked fork, FBF exhaust, and a bunch of megacycle rocker arms. The rest of it is junk - Hey, I'm just happy that it runs...

Sold: 2002 Aprilia RST1000 for touring - De-restricted airbox, Taylormade Racing exhaust

They're damn quite, but less than 92?

I'm thinking maybe I remember they claimed 102 db. for the Termis.

Is it to just ride the track?  Damn that's quiet.

I would put the baffles on and just let off when you come to the part of the track with the little shack where the decibel reader/measurer thing is.. worked for a buddy of mine when we went..

Yeah, thought about that but it would definitely be diff to duplicate the conditions I would be tested under at laguna.

I have heard that they change up the locations from where they test now. They got wise to that trick....

Yeah, since there are "supposedly" homes near the track (more like ranches that shouldn't give a shit) that were "complaining", they had to institute noise limits. But the "real" events have no such restrictions! You think 92 is quiet, the EPA stock measured level is 80!  [puke]

WHat was there first, the track or the houses?

Very likely the track was there first, but that never seems to matter much.

To the OP, you might want to check with the MOB folks, but IIRC, Laguna has a 'stock exhausts' rule.

That drives me NUTs!

Several shooting ranges have been shut down in my state due to noise ordinances installed after a housing development was installed on a previous farm field.  People knew about the noise before purchasing the house and still pregnant doged after they moved in....

I know it's a hassle to worry about the exhaust and all but laguna seca is worth the hassle IMO
especially so you can ride the corkscrew [thumbsup]
