Slight threadjack - how is it for a passenger on the Sargent seat?  It looks like it might be a bit less secure..... I don't carry passengers that often, but when I do, I don't want them sliding off.

My s2r1k seat cowl fits over the sargent seat.  It's a little more snug than the OEM seat, but not so much it would cause damage.

I've had the same sargent seat on my last three monsters and have not had any problem with the fitment of the cowl,plus i find it alot more comfortable than the stock seat

who would buy a solo seat with a locking storage compartment built into the back, and it wasn't worth doing a one off to gauge customer feedback...

It would be nice if you could compare it with DP performance seat

This is the DP lower seat, not the touring seat, for the 696/1100:



Pros:
20mm lower (as advertise for short Ducatistis)
Less, much less, of a forward angle compare to stock (Happy manhood )
Smooth alcantara (I think) material for rider's buns (The guys at the dealer agreed the feel is much better than the DP touring material)
Semi rough (read non-slippery) but cushy composite material for passenger's buns
Better cushions compare to stock (even though there are less material)
Red stitching is nice
Fits the rear cowl nicely and looks better than stock

Con:
the width is the same with less material underneath making it more flatter than stock. This translate to a more of a bowed leg feel with both feet down and result in not much of a gain in the feet to ground contact over the stock height. I say more of a 10mm advantage and not 20mm advantage over stock.

But still very happy with the purchase. Worth it [moto]

Are you refering to the touring seat? If so, unfortunately, I don't have one to compare it to. But I do remember seating on one at the dealer. One noticable different is the touring seat have the same concave shape at the groin cussion as the stock seat where as the lower seat have more of a flat area between the groin. For me, the flatter shape puts less pressure underneath my manhood and more on my buns. Another is the lower seat have an alcantara type skin for the rider compare to the rough texture the touring seat have. But I have not had a chance to take one with the touring seat out for a long ride to compare.

+1 on the Sargent. I've had them on both of my Monsters, my 999, my 749, and my old R1. Nothing better IMO.
