696 tail bag / saddle bags for commuting

Took a ride on a 696 and loved it.

I'd be using it to commute, so ideally I could find either saddle bags or a tail bag that would fit a laptop computer and notebook. Big plus if it could fit a riding jacket too.

Anyone have any suggestions? Ducati's accessories look to small to even fit a laptop...

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure this exact question was discussed a while back - at least there was a thread about tail bags, and I think someone mentioned.

If I searched, found and served it to you, you wouldn't learn from the experience of searching. I suggest a "tail bag 696" search [thumbsup]

You will have to excuse the fatherly/teacher voice ;)

BTW - welcome here and enjoy safe riding [thumbsup]

I have the Ducati one for the 696, yes small, jeans a couple t shirts and never a laptop, at least not mine.

I use my back pack for my laptop.

Least it small enough to not slow me down.

I second what DucinKtown said, the "Ducati Performance" tailbag is great for weekend getaways but, even in it's "expanded" state, the shape of it is not conducive to fitting a rectangular laptop in it. Backpack is the way to go if that's what you need it for. Besides, your Monster will look cooler without the attached luggage!

If you're thinking about the "Ducati Performance" tankbag for a laptop, forget that also. It's even smaller than the tailbag.

I can fit my jacket or my helmet in the tailbag (when it's expanded), but not both. Neither fits in the tankbag.
I have yet to see the saddlebags in person so can't comment on them.

You can fit your helmet in it? I just got the tailbag and there is no way my Shoei (medium) helmet will fit unless I keep it unzipped and half of it sitting out.

I have a Nolan N42 that fits in it  but my Icon doesn't.

time for someone to mod a 696 or 1100 to put either a motogp style exaust so that saddle bags can fit on or make a really cool underseat exhaust so that saddle bags can mount on the outside.  that would be really sweet.

Yah, saddlebags would be great! Since I already bought full termis, no mo dinero to blow. The DP tailbag will have to do. My only embarrassing moment was I forgot it was on when I got off my bike and I almost fell over when my foot hit it. hehe :-[

actually someone just need so to make a small frame that comes from the exhaust bracket mount and goes over the exhausts to keep the bags off the exhausts. we're talking cheap mod. then you could use any bag set as long as the straps are long enough.
