Truer words never spoken, matey!   The tracfone was major for me, dude.  If it weren't for ailing ferrets, I still wouldn't have one.  Guarantee ya a GPS will NEVER happen.  Just ain't my thang.

If it makes you feel any better, gps is my back up.  Im a topo and declination guy (how i found it in the first place).   Just figured I would save you some trouble.  But, given that we are leaving the day you can get there....a rain check it is.

Seriously....

I think we'd better just plan on a ride one of these days.  I finally broke down and bought a Tracfone (for my ferret sitter).  A GPS is right out.  I'm still doing the compass and orienteering deal while traipsing about. Wish they had an old fart emoticon.   

Hell, I carry around a rand McNally road atlas.  I figure I'm young enough to understand maps still
