Hi I'm from Caracas - Venezuela, this is my very first post and my english is not good, please excuse my mistakes.

In my country buy a Ducati is very expensive but I'm in love with the monster serie. In the Ducati shop he have a 2005 S2R 800 (Red with white line) with only 1K miles, full termi (new ecu, open air box, etc.) in $15K, I'm one step below of buy it

In opinions of the forum experts the S2R 800 is a good deal?

A little history about myself. I have 41 years, 25 years ago I used bikes as fast Honda Interceptor, then spent more than 15 years without a bike, then buy a Cruiser (Yamaha Virago 1100) and now I want something more fun.

The traffic in my city is very strong, many bottlenecks, but I also like a bike to travel, 400 or 600 milles in the weekends.

The S2R 800 be a good buy?

Thanks in advance to all

Saludos!

Welcome to the DMF!   No need to apologize for your English, it is far better than my Spanish. :)

The S2R800 is a very good bike, and most people prefer it with the termi / ecu kit.  I think you will find it very fun for your weekend riding. [thumbsup]

However, $15,000 would be very expensive for such a bike here in the US.  I don't know how prices and the exchange rate compare for where you are, but you can get an idea of bike prices by looking at the Monsters for Sale section on this site.

Good luck with the bike shopping!

Thanks for your ansver somegirl and the praise of my English  :)

Here the costs are big, because the taxes for bikes are very hight, in example for a Ducati you need to pay 40% + 10% + 12% (incremental) to the bike cost to import it  >:( >:(

I think that I can negociate the price and down it to some close to $13K...

What do you think about a 14t front sprocket? Some people say that this is ideal for the traffic cities?

somegirl

If you are going to be doing a lot of stop-and-go riding, you will probably appreciate the 14t sprocket.
