No can do today, ball and chain stuff today on the home front. Made a nice Muenster run yesterday. It was overcast/foggy from Bass Pro/DFW airport area all the way to Muenster. Brrrr, bet it felt like a 20 degree drop at 70-80mph after being in nice sunshine. Bank clock in Muenster only read 59 degrees at 12:30! Needed more clothes. After lunch it was all sunshine and felt MUCH warmer!

Wasn't the only one with a Veteran's Day Muenster run in mind. There was a group of 18-20 bikes in the lot of Roehmers (sp??), Doc's was closed. Had a killer combo plate of sausage & schnitzel!! But the local folks around me were having the tex-mex enchilada plate lunch special and it looked awesome!! I had major lunch plate envy!! German food rocks but that tex-mex plate will be sitting in front of me next time! [thumbsup] [bacon]

Donald, I need to make this east TX run with you sometime. I was at my Winnsboro farm last week mowing and came home Weds. through Mineola around lunch. Had one of the best jalapeno/cheeseburgers ever at East Texas Burgers!! It was damn near culinary perfection not to mention it was freaking huge!! Almost needed help lifting it up! [laugh] Don't do the sweet 'tater fries... o-ring man. I would love to check out your route, my drive is the boring yet efficient Hwy. 80 then north to Quitman and east on 154. Zzzzzz, but then again I'm in the truck not on a bike.

OK, end of long winded threadjack...

I need to go on some of these adventurous rides, I don't know where sh!t is in texas still. I'm getting better at figuring out DFW, but its taking awhile.

Hell, I was born and raised here and I still can't figure DFW out! [bang] [laugh]

Cyclone is talking about an east TX ride towards Mineola, about 85-90 miles east on Hwy 80 from your house. That's the boring car ride route. He does something more interesting on the bike... I think. There is a burger joint at the "major" crossroads in Mineola that's pretty damn good and it's been there forever. Especially considering that Mineola doesn't offer up a whole lot in fine dining establishments.

This time of year is a great time to ride in these parts. We are actually having some north TX fall weather for a change. Fall in Texas usually comes on a Wednesday and by Thursday it's gone! [bang] One day it's 95+ degrees and the next it's 45... fall weather, you blink you miss it! This year we are actually having some nice sunny mild weather, good football weather. Loved the Muenster run yesterday once the sun came out, there was some actual tree color to look at and all the leaves falling across the road added to the autumn feel. In the spirit of Thanksgiving I did see a flock of 15-20 wild turkeys in a field outside of Justin... why didn't somebody shoot them all last weekend? It was the opening of hunting season after all. Don't trust those damn birds!! [laugh]

[bang] Did not get out there today - only commuting on moto today  [bang]

From E Dallas I like to take 66 over Hubbard then take 551 South in Fate to 276 E. out to Emory where the fun begins. Cons are: stoplights ( not bad in weekday traffic ) ; slower than US 80.  Pros are: you go over Hubbard on that other bridge not IH 30 :( & over Tawakoni twice ; the scenery is nicer than US 80 (which also has a few lights).  As the crow flies the 66 - 276 route East is shorter but if I mess around out east too long sometimes I blast back on 80 to save a few minutes.

Weekends get more  [leo]  ( thanks a LOT Corvette club ! ) Best to be sensible out there - you can zip a bit but there lots of deer, farm equip, School stops, leaves on roadway, etc.  Last year I came around a 90% turn and there was a Brahma Bull across one lane about 100 feet ahead of my full dead stop looking right at me.  I could see the farmer on the other side of the downed fence continuing to mow his field like nothing was wrong & gave him the hands up shrug shoulder WTF ? He gave me the hands up shrug shoulder WTF  RIGHT BACK !
I turned around & went back like I came to an alternate route ... better to be sensible than mess around with 2500+ lbs of uncooked unpredictable beef...  [beer]

I'd like to ride Hamburger Hooky cruise again next week...  [thumbsup] Monday & Friday are bad for me - anyone available?  [bacon]

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

I'm interested. I'll see how the week unfolds and check with the family social director. I have a feeling this awesome weather can't hold out much longer. Don't want to jinx it but we have been on a three week streak of kickass weather, especially the weekends. Haven't seen that happen in quite some time.

no c

I'm interested. I'll keep my eye on this if you don't mind me tagging along.
