Melty Dainese pants

My wife has been very happy with her Dainese textile pants, in part because they're girl-shaped, and in part because of Dainese's reputation.

Recently, she somehow managed to get her leg against the exhaust header that wraps around the right side of her 696. It melted very quickly.

I was surprised at how very little protection these pants provide against heat. Obviously, there's a limit to what any textile can withstand. My biggest concern is that the fabric melted into a goo that could have stuck to her leg if it had gone longer than the few seconds it did. As it is, the header is coated in black tarry stuff. Exhaust burns are bad enough, but fabrics that melt and stick to skin can be more dangerous than nothing at all in terms of thermal injury.

Many manufacturers use fabrics, especially on the insides of legs, that are at least somewhat resistant to exhaust temperatures and that scorch instead of melting.

Just a heads-up.

I owned Rev'it Mistral pants, which are highly vented textile pants that have a leather or synthetic leather? on the lower leg. In mens size, they run a little bit larger than Dainese.
Also the zippers don't match up with Dainese. I have owned two Rev'it textile jackets, which is very high quality stuff.

My own stuff is Rev'It. My wife prefers the look of the Dainese.

I know I've gotten my leg up against an exhaust header for long enough to hurt through my pants without having melted anything.

I wear a pair of Dainese pants and have never had a problem. I know that with any synthetic (polyester, rayon, etc...) you have a chance of fire. The military had to outlaw underarmor for all forces because while in combat hot shell casings would fall down the back of body armor and cause the shirts to start melting in the exact same way you described of your wife's pants. I would get the pants to Dainese and see if you can get a replacement pair, and maybe a pair without any spandex or such materials.
