Picked up a set of 01 gauges to fit on my 98 monster 750. Both bikes were carbed and 750's my gauges had the strip rpm gauge above the dummy cluster. I fit it and all the dummy lights worked and the speedo cable fit I just need to figure out what to do with the tach now. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Does the new tach have a tiny rectangular plug?

2 or 3 wires?

The connectors are identical except...

The 01's tach input wire (J) was the older bike's side stand down warning light wire..

Just wire the "J" input wire to the green wire going to your coils and you should be good to go.

And yes, I do have a giant printout of the 01 m750 wiring diagram on my office wall  ;D

J wire? Is that one of the wires that make up the plug that goes into the back of the gauge cluster? You wouldnt be able to post a picture of that diagram would you I work better when I can see something?

How much did the gauges run you. Thinking of doing it to my 750 as well.

They are great the only problem was how long it took me to find them. I probably looked for 3 months and finally found a pair on ebay. They are close to 600 new.

I recommend getting a pdf of the owners manual and taking it down to kinkos. They'll blow it up for you to a readable size.
